According to data released by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases of Japan, as of early February, a total of 91 cases of mutant new coronavirus infection had been detected in the Kanto region, and 2 cases were found in airport tests.

The mutated virus originating from the UK has been found in 50 countries and regions, and the virus discovered in South Africa has appeared in 20 countries and regions. Not only that, Brazilian researchers have also discovered another similar new coronavirus.

According to statistics, Japan has reported a total of 151 cases related to the mutant virus found in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.

It is reported that on February 2, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced that the state of emergency for Tokyo, Osaka and other 10 prefectures will be extended to March 7, requiring people to avoid unnecessary outings and prohibiting restaurants from opening after 8 pm.

Vaccination for ordinary people will be implemented as early as May-June.
