Recently, there has been a surge in incidents of "cross-site ASIN synchronization and brand modification" on Amazon , and thousands or tens of thousands of ASINs with inventory on the way have also been affected. Many Amazon sellers have launched actions, calling on Amazon to plug this system loophole; in recent days, another group of sellers have been affected, and the sellers who have been cheated have figured out a solution that may help the sellers in question solve their urgent needs.
ASIN synchronization across multiple sites is increasing, and sellers are calling for "action"
ASINs were synchronized to other sites and the brands were tampered with. This kind of incident happened occasionally before. Recently, this method was used by people with ulterior motives to do evil, and similar incidents increased sharply. The experience of one seller attracted great attention in the industry, and many victimized sellers also stood up.
In January, a seller posted a message asking for help. Someone uploaded another product on the US site using the same ASIN as one of his products on the European site. As a result, thousands of stocks of this ASIN on the European site were shown as " inventory error " and were unsaleable . This ASIN had thousands of reviews and tens of thousands of stocks on the way through FBA.
The seller was extremely anxious and tried to copy the sale on the US site in the hope of regaining the editing rights, but the ASIN had brand gating and could not be operated. What was worse was that there was also a dangerous goods review . This was not the first time that the seller had encountered this situation.
Many peers came out to offer suggestions. One seller said that he had also encountered this problem. Customer service told him that it was copied by other sites and the information was modified. It was suggested that the seller use a template to re-upload the previous information, and then help solve it. But most sellers are not so lucky. Some were investigated for more than a month, and finally recovered after various efforts, but it is not clear which specific measures worked; some sellers tried to modify the brand, but ultimately failed to change it back.
Many sellers have encountered similar situations, and some have even encountered it twice on the US site. One seller said that the US site was followed to the European site, the pictures were changed, and the editing rights were taken away; another seller's European site products were also maliciously uploaded to the US site and used as zombie listings for brands with brand gating. Many negotiations have been made (including seller support, brand management complaints, etc.), but all have failed. The rescue is still in progress. The key difficulty is brand gating brand locking.
An experienced seller said that many people have been using this dog-changing idea recently, taking the ASIN of the main site listing to the small site to list it, and deliberately putting some dangerous goods or illegal items on the shelves. These products may be directly blocked on the small site, and the ASIN will also affect the main site listing, causing the main site to be blocked .
The cross-site synchronization of ASIN has caused a lot of complaints, and some sellers have posted messages calling on their peers to take action and resist this evil behavior.
The post listed several recent help links for similar incidents, and stated that ASINs on the US site were randomly added to other sites by malicious accounts and edited as restricted products, resulting in the removal of US site listings and the victim accounts being warned of violations. Even if the sellers go through a lot of trouble, it will take a long time to recover, and sales will plummet. The seller who posted the post said that this was a system loophole and called on his peers to give Amazon advice.
Be careful, this is what happens after the brand is changed
One seller lamented: "The cost of the prank is only 380+240+20+45+electricity+internet fees, but the sellers who were tricked suffered huge pain."
Sellers who have never encountered this situation are trembling with fear. In view of the increasing number of such cases, some people suggest that we try to list them on other sites at the same time in the future. "We now synchronize the links with other sites before selling them, and keep them before selling them to ensure that the links are in our hands." said a seller, and many sellers agree with this measure.
What should I do if my ASIN is maliciously synchronized and the brand has been changed and cannot be changed back? A seller who was cheated successfully changed back multiple brands and shared his valuable experience in a post:
“Suppose the seller’s brand is A and the brand being changed is B.
If you change the brand name to B directly in the background , an error will occur. You can directly add the brand name A at the end and change it to BA, and then change the title, manufacturer name, part number and other information belonging to the other party. The background can be saved and uploaded, or you can use a template to change it.
It will be updated a few hours or 24 hours after the change . If the brand name on the front desk changes to BA, it means that the change can be made. Then remove B in the back-end and save and upload without error. After a certain period of time, the brand name and title on the front desk may be changed. The title is not updated so quickly. If the back-end title is changed but the front desk is not updated, you need to wait or refresh it with a template. It can be changed in about one or two days. "
Among the series of malicious ASIN synchronization operations, what sellers hate most is having sensitive words added to their products, which triggers dangerous goods reviews and makes it even more difficult for sellers to file appeals.
The addition of illegal words caused the orders of hot-selling products to drop by 90%
As competition on the platform intensifies, a few sellers have begun to resort to unscrupulous means, particularly adding illegal words to competitors' best-selling products.
Yesterday, a seller discovered that all 13 sub-items in the two best-selling parent ASINs were suddenly removed from the shelves, and the performance page showed "Violation of Restricted Product Policy". Customer service informed that the seller was selling epidemic prevention supplies. The seller opened the listing editing page and found that the five selling points, search terms, and keywords of ASIN had been added with illegal words such as N95, MASK, and FDA. The main pictures of some products were also replaced with masks, and the seller was immediately panicked.
Such incidents are very common. One seller was very helpless: "N95 was maliciously added to more than 10 SKUs. I complained for 20 days. At first, no matter how I changed it, it didn't work. I deleted all the descriptions except the title and uploaded them to three North American sites using templates before I restored them. Now I have to rewrite the descriptions and keywords again. There are too many disasters this year." The seller felt sympathetic.
Another seller had a similar experience: "I just encountered a dog-like situation four months ago. At that time, the inventory of more than 100,000 was very panic. It took 30 days to return to normal. The sales volume of more than 1,000 orders a day dropped to 1/10."
There are also products that have been sold for more than two years that have been maliciously added with keywords. Without any performance notification, the seller's listing became a dud. After communicating with customer service, the seller still has no good way to save the listing.
In fact, many sellers have experienced malicious additions of illegal words, which caused their orders to plummet, and as a result, many have not recovered their previous sales performance. In the end, the sellers who were in a good situation did not have too much inventory, while most sellers left a lot of inventory and were secretly worried.
Similar phenomena have occurred before, but from January to recently, cross-site ASIN synchronization incidents have always existed. Sellers who have been on holiday at home for the Spring Festival in recent days have been worried, fearing that their ASINs will be harmed while they are resting.
Here is a reminder for friends who are on vacation at home, you can check the store status every day to ensure the security of your account. If you are unfortunately spoofed, find and solve the problem in time, and you can also communicate with Amazon customer service and ask the platform to help investigate.
