According to reports, the Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries (hereinafter referred to as "WB") recently analyzed the platform's outdoor product orders from 2017 to 2020 and found that outdoor product sales increased significantly in 2020. Even amid the spread of the epidemic, some Russians still buy a large number of outdoor products online.
WB revealed to the media that in 2020, the sales of outdoor products on the WB platform reached the highest level in the past three years, a 30-fold increase from 2017, a 12-fold increase from 2018, and a 4-fold increase from 2019. However, WB did not disclose the specific sales figures.
WB staff said that in Russia, more and more people are interested in outdoor hunting, a "traditional entertainment". Among the many outdoor products, outdoor mats, binoculars, gas stoves for cooking, hunting baits and knives are the most popular.
Short-distance outdoor hunting does not seem to satisfy the "vigorous" Russians. According to WB data, most Russians prefer long-distance outdoor hunting. WB data shows that the demand for tents and sleeping bags on the platform in 2020 increased fourfold compared with 2019. In addition, the purchase frequency of small outdoor chairs increased 10 times year-on-year, and the purchase frequency of tables increased 4.5 times year-on-year.
In addition to creating a good sleeping environment for themselves, Russians also buy heaters, gas stoves and other products to solve the problem of food and clothing. WB staff said that last year, the sales of gas heaters on the platform increased by 31 times year-on-year, the sales of outdoor stoves increased by 23 times year-on-year, and the sales of gas stoves increased by 10 times year-on-year.
Outdoor hunting is of course inseparable from a variety of outdoor wear and equipment .
