What is BOKU? BOKU Review, Features

BOKU builds the mobile-first infrastructure used by leading companies around the world to grow, monetize and securely transact in a mobile-first world.

About BOKU

Boku was founded in 2009 by Mark Britto, Erich Ringewald and Ron Hinson with the goal of enabling people to shop for digital content using their mobile phones. Over the past decade, Boku has partnered with the world’s largest brands to achieve this ambition globally. Today, six of the world’s seven most valuable companies operate on the Boku platform.

For most of Boku's history, mobile payments have been driven by mobile operators and carrier billing. However, the emergence and mass adoption of mobile wallets has created a seismic shift not only in mobile payments, but also in the global financial system. In 2021, we launched our mobile-first payment network, combining carrier billing and mobile wallets into a single payment solution.

Boku solves the challenges of mobile payment acceptance. Our mobile-first payment network brings credit card-like simplicity to the complex world of mobile payment acceptance.

Boku standardizes payment types and adopts a single global standard to ensure consistency in user experience and technical deployment.

International settlements are difficult, painful, and expensive, and Boku does a lot of the legwork (tax, foreign exchange, remittances) to make payments quick and painless for merchants.

Mobile payment types are evolving extremely rapidly, and Boku is at the forefront of the market, integrating the most relevant payment types and updating the integrations according to the latest specifications.

The world's largest mobile payment network with more than 330 mobile payment types in 90 countries around the world, accepting all relevant mobile payment types, standardization ensures technical equality of different payment types and shortens the time to market.

With over 10 years of experience delivering mobile payments to merchants around the world, Boku is trusted by the biggest brands in digital commerce, with the entire network available through a single connection, with reverse integration available.
