About Wakefit

Wakefit was founded by Ankit Garg and Chaitanya Ramalingegowda in 2016. It was originally a DTC bedding brand that only sold mattresses and pillows. Later, it began to develop smart sleep accessories such as back pillows, neck support pillows and bedspreads.

They realized that the sleep industry was highly fragmented and there had been little innovation in the past few decades. Hence, they focused on developing innovative sleep products that actually solve sleep problems and are affordable. This was achieved through in-house R&D and manufacturing, and also using direct-to-consumer online channels as the primary method of reaching consumers. In 2018, Wakefit raised INR 650 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital, a marquee investor.

After the success of sleep solutions, Wakefit has now expanded into home solutions with furniture in categories like sofas, TV sets, coffee tables, bookcases, study tables, etc. The founders plan to double down on the company’s strengths, including strong manufacturing capabilities, in-house R&D, and direct-to-consumer DNA, with a focus on engineered products that promote ergonomics and overall wellness.
