Temu's global expansion continues.
As early as last year, Temu began to prepare for entering the Brazilian market as soon as possible. After many investigations, on June 8 this year, Temu successfully launched a Brazilian site, which is the 70th site opened by Temu worldwide. So far, Temu has taken an important step in the South American market.
Brazil's Internet penetration rate is about 61%, and nearly 83% of consumers choose to shop online . According to a survey by the Brazilian E-Commerce Association, Brazil 's online shopping transaction volume reached 185.7 billion reais in 2023. In addition , Brazil is the only country in Latin America that ranks among the top ten in the global retail e-commerce market .
Brazil is the largest economy in South America. Although its retail scale is not as large as some countries, consumers are still very interested in online products with low offline prices, which coincides with Temu's consistent low-price strategy.
It is worth mentioning that the report shows that consumers stay on the Temu platform for an average of 22 minutes each time, which is higher than the 11 minutes on the Amazon platform, which also shows that the Temu platform has a certain appeal to consumers.
Recently, Temu's performance in Brazil has been remarkable. In September this year, Temu's monthly active users in Brazil increased by 31% to 25 million, second only to Meikeduo's 35 million users and Shopee's 34 million users. It has successfully become one of the three most commonly used shopping apps in Brazil, surpassing a number of competitors such as Magazine Luiza and AliExpress.
Temu has a high monthly active user base, and its download volume is also not to be underestimated. In September, Temu was downloaded 5.8 million times, successfully topping the list of Brazilian shopping app downloads, while the download volume of competitors such as Meikeduo in September was less than half of Temu.
In just a few months after its launch in Brazil, Temu has achieved rapid growth in both active users and downloads, thanks to Temu's marketing strategy and services. Temu attracts consumers through shopping discounts of up to 90% and free home delivery, and promises free returns within 90 days; its gamification model has also improved user stickiness to a certain extent.
Although Temu performs well on mobile terminals, its website traffic is not very impressive and there is still a certain gap with the ranks of major e-commerce websites. On the other hand, Amazon, Meikeduo, Shopee and other platforms have better website traffic than Temu. Data shows that in September, Meikeduo ranked first in Brazilian web traffic, reaching 224 million visits; followed by Amazon, reaching 170 million visits; Shopee ranked third, reaching 118 million visits.
In summary, Temu Brazil's growth momentum remains unabated, and Temu may seize more market share in Brazil in the future. Currently, Temu's business has successfully spread to more than 80 countries and regions around the world, and Temu's global expansion has not stopped. Temu Brazil |
