FBA rejects shipments! Sellers’ shipments delayed 120 days

Amazon 's RDU4 warehouse seems to have collapsed, with rejections, errors and other problems emerging one after another, causing a large number of goods to be in a waiting list, with some delays of up to 120 days. In addition to RDU4, Amazon's multiple warehouses are experiencing large-scale delays, and some peers have said that if this continues, they will bankrupt us.

A large number of goods were returned, and RDU4 was delayed by 120 days

Recently, Amazon has faced a number of warehouse rejections and delays, with many goods stuck. The situation at Amazon’s RDU4 warehouse is the most serious, with a lane full of trucks being rejected and a large number of goods being returned. Many sellers have suffered greatly and have issued a warning: Please avoid this warehouse!

According to seller Peter , they used to ship 1,000 boxes per week. A few days ago, they received an error message when shipping to RDU4: "UPS cannot provide service because the weight or size of one or more of your shipments is not within the range allowed by Amazon's partner carrier."

This was unbelievable to Peter, as the boxes with the problem were all of standard size and weight, no different from the previous ones, and he had never seen this error before. What also worried him was that two of his LTL shipments were returned from RDU4 last week due to overloading.

The same happened to seller Tom , who sent two shipments of more than 10 pallets to RDU4 via Amazon carriers, and a week later the freight company (TForce ) returned all the pallets to them, saying that Amazon refused to accept them and could not process them.

Because of the huge inventory pressure, Tom tried to let TForce send the goods back to the Amazon warehouse, but the freight company said that they had rejected many sellers and a full lane of trucks were rejected .

" Currently, Amazon's RDU4 refuses to cooperate with carriers on LTL pallets. Carriers can only return the goods to sellers, and many sellers' goods have been returned. " said a person familiar with the matter.

The problem at RDU4 was so severe that delays broke out before large shipments were returned.

In the eyes of the seller Leo, RDU4 was in big trouble. He learned from the carrier ACT that the carrier had 20 trucks loaded with goods waiting to be shipped , but could not determine the delivery date. Among them, they had 3 pallets that were shipped 35 days ago and had been on the carrier's truck for 30 days.

RDU4 had a big problem, and other sellers thought so too, and the goods they shipped were delayed for a long time.

“——The goods originally planned to be sold during the late summer promotion have just started to be collected, and now these stocks have to be stored in FBA over the winter;

- Shipped to RDU4 on July 1, still showing as in transit until September 2, now Amazon banner says it needs to wait until November 2 to complete the shipment. This is ridiculous, 120 days to wait ! Sadly, ours is still a perishable item;

——The shipment status has been updated to received, and the survey time has been postponed from September 4 to September 17. The number of shipments received is still 0! It has been more than 40 days since the shipment arrived at the warehouse;

——My shipment was signed for on September 5th, but none of the 450 items have been received. Unfortunately, I still have two shipments on the way to RDU4 …”

New distribution center encounters huge teething problems

Judging from the delays in goods for a large number of sellers, the problem with RDU4 can be traced back further.

There were a lot of feedbacks about RDU4 about a month ago. One of the sellers said that a batch of goods was sent to RDU4 via DHL at the end of July, and arrived at the Amazon warehouse for signature on August 2, but the goods have been waiting! Several orders at the end of August have been out of stock for a month. These goods need to wait for investigation. After the investigation, it is still unknown when the warehouse will be able to put them on the shelves!

At that time, many sellers’ goods sent to RDU4 were delayed for more than one month, and some were even delayed for one and a half months. A colleague believed that the RDU4 warehouse encountered huge initial problems because the warehouse was newly opened this year.

One colleague pointed out that the distribution center was opened in a hurry without being fully prepared. He pointed out: "We encountered many problems in this new distribution center. When we asked the FedEx representative to check our delivery situation, we found something very interesting: our goods were placed in a trailer, and the trailer was "queuing" to be unloaded and start the formalities. Before the trailer was finally unloaded, the goods were in the "delivered" status for more than 2 weeks, and our goods began the normal receiving process, which took more than a week to complete. Amazon seems to have opened this distribution center in a hurry before it was ready."

It is understood that Amazon's RDU4 warehouse is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA , with a total area of 1.3 million square feet (about 120,774 square meters). The RDU4 warehouse focuses on the reception, storage and large-scale distribution of goods, rather than complex order sorting processes. This type of warehouse is designed to handle a large number of inventory units and support rapid turnover, especially when handling high-demand goods.

In addition to the slow delivery time, this warehouse is also not peaceful. According to relevant information, there were three cases of cargo theft in the RDU4 warehouse in August this year.

The current RDU4 is really worrying for many sellers. As a large number of goods have been delayed or returned, sellers are also suffering losses to varying degrees.

Delays are happening everywhere

Currently, the problem of cargo delays seems to be breaking out in a concentrated manner. Cargo in multiple warehouses has been rejected, and there is no end in sight for waiting to be received and processed. The problem is not limited to RDU4 warehouse.

According to the seller Li 's real feedback, there are also problems with Nashville BNA6 and Wyoming LAN2. Before August, all of Li's shipments were sent to Indiana, Chicago or Texas. He admitted that he had encountered multiple so-called "empty" shipments, but never encountered a situation like this waiting to be received and processed.

"We have 10 pallets that have been delayed. Amazon's pick-up date has not been confirmed. We have never encountered such delays before. Amazon is too busy and the trucking companies are also overwhelmed. They cannot give a date. The warehouse said they will go in order of dates. Many sellers are waiting like us. " said another seller who did not specify which warehouse the shipment was going to.

In addition, according to real feedback: CLT2's receiving is slow and chaotic, and many goods mysteriously "disappeared" there; many goods sent to XLX1 have also been delayed for more than a month; and the previously mentioned PSC2 new warehouse is overwhelmed, with serious cases of rejection and cancellation of appointments. ABQ2 has cancelled appointments on a large scale, Amazon Logistics cannot make appointments, and all appointments have become Pending.

"This rejection and delay problem is happening everywhere. Amazon will blame the sellers for missed deliveries and negatively label their performance health. But it is obviously a problem with Amazon warehouses and employees. When will Amazon take this issue seriously? Probably never," said an industry insider.

The person further said, "What is the best option for sellers? Ship small quantities to warehouses and try to choose warehouses with better records. "
