Before the big sale, various emergencies occurred frequently.
Recently, GPSR has been all over the social media platforms, and sellers have been reporting that they have received warnings about GPSR regulatory compliance, requiring them to ensure product line compliance. Some sellers said that they have thousands of SKUs waiting to be processed on each site, and they are facing constant problems in the process of submitting for review.
GPSR warnings flood the screen, sellers are finding it difficult!
Recently, sellers have been reporting that they have received GPSR policy warnings from Amazon, reminding sellers to complete GPSR compliance before December 13.
One seller said: "The multi-variant GPSR processing of European shoes and clothing is a complete mess. Each site has more than 1,000 SKUs that need to upload safety and warning information." Assuming that each product needs to be photographed and uploaded, the workload is quite large. For this reason, some sellers are looking for convenient methods, and some sellers are even willing to pay for guidance on how to successfully handle warnings in order to pass the review quickly.
In fact, there are many sellers who have the same experience. "Each site has 40 to 50 performances, and many of them are for different products," one seller said. Many sellers also said that they have submitted their applications for review but are stuck in the waiting state.
According to feedback from some sellers, this review is quite slow. A car-mounted seller said: Six-sided pictures have been uploaded and warnings have been posted on the product, but the regulatory compliance has not been eliminated. When asked by customer service, they said that the safety pictures are effective in the background, and the compliance interface is updated slowly, so they asked us to wait patiently ...
Some sellers have provided pictures and documents, but they still show that they need to be submitted or are under review. This is beyond the time Amazon claims. However, some sellers believe that "uploading a picture to the European GPSR will be reviewed very quickly, but uploading the manual is very slow. " In addition, many sellers are also unclear about the specifics of product labeling requirements.
Due to various problems, many sellers have many questions about this.
Amazon Europe's GPSR , or the General Product Safety Regulation, requires most non-food products in the EU and Northern Ireland to meet the requirements of the regulation. Once this measure is officially implemented, most Amazon European sellers will be affected, but there are exceptions for individual products, such as medicines, food and beverages.
Compared with the EU General Product Safety Directive ( GPSD), GPSR has made further revisions in terms of product compliance managers, product labels, certification documents, and increased communication channels.
Moreover, the new GPSR regulations are not just about applying for an EU agent. Sellers need to complete the following operations before December 13. Specifically, the first step is to self-check the products on sale to ensure that the products meet the safety requirements of GPSR; the second step is to register the EU responsible person for non-food products, taking into account the product label and packaging changes; the third step is to affix compliant product packaging labels and ensure that the labels and instructions use the official languages of EU member states; the fourth step is to upload regulatory requirements information to the platform.
The new rules are more detailed and may affect sellers’ profits
The most common problems encountered by sellers are mainly concentrated in the third and fourth steps. Taking the third step as an example, the new regulations have more detailed requirements for products.
According to official information, product labeling is required to display the contact information of the person in charge and the manufacturer (such as name, postal address, email address /URL); to display product safety and warning information, such information includes CE mark, energy label, toy safety warnings and chemical hazard warnings (in the language of the country of sale); at least one product type, batch, serial number or other information that facilitates the identification of the product.
For sellers focusing on the EU market, the upcoming implementation of GPSR will undoubtedly increase their various costs.
The refinement of label information is likely to cause some unqualified sellers to modify the packaging and instructions of some products, which will involve manpower and material resources that will squeeze the sellers' profit margins. Once the requirements of GPSR are not met, there is also the potential risk of the product being removed from the shelves and the non-compliant inventory being removed.
In response to some sellers’ questions, some service providers have given corresponding measures on related issues such as “how to upload EU agency and safety warning information”.
Amazon GPSR compliance generally has three options: product documents, warnings and safety pictures, and product safety certification. Sellers can choose one of them. However, it should be noted that product safety pictures do not have to have six sides, but at least one picture and at most six pictures. The information on the product and the warning words can be displayed.
The product safety diagram can be replaced by the user manual (either one or the other), but it needs to be uploaded separately for each site. The product safety diagram only needs to be uploaded to one site for the entire EU. The product safety diagram can be uploaded in batches using a template. It does not have to reflect the EU regulatory information, but it must reflect warnings and product safety information.
When uploading security pictures, sellers can upload pictures of products through Catalog-Upload Pictures-Picture Manager, and enter PS01--06 in the box below the picture . After uploading, sellers need to wait for a while. According to sellers' feedback, Amazon's review time has been reduced from 24 hours to 7 days. Sellers need to wait patiently. Compliance managers of some stores said that the background performance will not be eliminated until October.
For ASINs that are no longer sold, sellers can directly delete the link in the inventory loading template to eliminate the performance. If the ASIN in the warning is a parent, then the manual can upload the manual and six-sided diagram of any child under the parent.
At present, many sellers have successfully passed the review. One seller said: Uploading a packaging picture with warning information and a non-packaging real shot ( a PDF picture containing only the manufacturer + European agency + product identification information + warning information) has passed the review, and the performance has also dropped. Sellers can refer to it.
Multiple cross-border platforms enforce GPSR
In fact, Amazon is not the only one. Cross-border platforms including Temu, AliExpress, Alibaba International Station, eBay, etc. have issued guidance notices on GPSR compliance. It is not difficult to see that the current general trend is compliance.
Temu previously issued a notice requiring that starting from December 13, products sold on the platform must ensure safety and compliance, and all goods entering the EU market must meet the relevant requirements of EU responsible person information, product identification, manufacturer or exporter information. If the declared information is incorrect or missing, the product may not be sold in the EU. The platform will strengthen the verification of GPSR information on October 15.
AliExpress conducted strict inspections in advance based on the notice. The notice mentioned that blocking and control will be implemented in mid-September (to be completed before December 1), and the products that complete compliance first will receive priority display and traffic support.
Alibaba International Station also issued a relevant notice and stated that it will block it from the EU market and intercept EU orders in accordance with regulatory requirements starting from December 13, 2024.
The new GPSR regulations will be enforced on December 13, 2024. The editor hereby reminds all sellers to prepare in advance to avoid affecting the normal sales of products. GPSR Ou Dai Amazon |
