A video of the suspected Temu warehouse went viral overseas

Recently, a video called "Temu Warehouse" has been uploaded to the Internet and has caused a heated discussion. It is reported that the reason for the popularity is that this video was posted on TikTok by a well-known British media, and then many foreign netizens followed suit and forwarded it.

The editor found this video on Reddit, a well-known American social networking site . The title of the video reads "A regular work day at the Temu warehouse."

(The image content has nothing to do with the video)

The video is only a dozen seconds long. It can be seen from the video that the shooting location should be a courier transfer and sorting center, and many workers are working in full swing. However, there is no obvious sign in the video to indicate which company this place belongs to, nor is there any obvious sign to prove that this work location is related to Temu.

At present, this video has been played 50,000 times on Reddit, and has received 2,300 comments. The editor summarized the comments into the following categories:

1. There are people who complain about Temu and the quality of the products, such as "Who buys anything on this website?" and "These products will end up in landfills in less than a year."

2. Some people say that the work content is no different from that of warehouse workers at Amazon, UPS, FedEx and other express warehouses. This kind of comment is more likely to come from warehouse workers at Amazon and other companies.

3. Some people think that the work intensity is too high, the work pace is too fast, and they sympathize with the income of the staff;

4. Of course, there are also those who remain rational, such as those who hope to determine the source of the video;

5. Others gave the correct answers directly, “I don’t think that’s Temu, they only put it in bags, not boxes”, “This is not Temu, this is an old video backed up by the China Post Office before the pandemic”.

As the video was spreading like wildfire, the fact-checking website Snopes investigated the authenticity of the video. The result is obvious, they judged the video as "fake".

Snopes first conducted a reverse image search on Google and found that this video was first posted on YouTube by a foreign netizen earlier this month. Interestingly, the video has only been played 189 times, including the video I have watched. However, the source of the video on YouTube is indicated: it was posted by a domestic netizen. However, neither the domestic netizens nor the foreign netizens who first forwarded it mentioned anything related to Temu.

Snopes also confirmed this with Temu via email, and Temu's reply clearly stated that this video had nothing to do with him.

Although it was an unprovoked disaster, Snopes finally cleared Temu’s name. Interestingly, under the video posted by the above-mentioned well-known media, a user wrote in the comment: “They know this is not the Temu warehouse, so they wrote ‘allegedly’ so that they will not be accused of fabricating facts.” The media has now deleted the video.
