Sold out! Halloween decorations store becomes popular thanks to a TikTok video

Didams Party & Toy Store, a long-time party supplies store, was having trouble selling its products in the run-up to Halloween this year .

October is traditionally the peak month for Halloween sales, but sales are currently very poor .

It is understood that the owner Steve Diddams has been running the Halloween store for 34 years and now has three branches, located in Mountain View, San Carlos and San Mateo.

"We were very worried because we had to buy these things a year in advance and had to sell them all in a week and a half ," he said .

After hearing about this, Steve's daughter made a TikTok video specifically , hoping to help attract customers through online traffic , but she didn't tell her father.

Within days, the video received more than 300,000 views and thousands of comments.

“It’s unbelievable, I knew nothing about TikTok , ” Diddams said. “ I can’t believe how many customers have flocked to my store to show their support. ”

After seeing the video , Los Angeles resident Shilpa Dahamadikari brought her daughter to the Mountain View store on Sunday night to buy Halloween costume accessories.

“ That video was so sincere, I felt like I had to go to the store or I would regret it! ” said Shilpa Dahamadikari .

Diddams said TikTok has made the store a top choice for many longtime customers.

He said similar party stores across the country have seen Halloween sales drop by about 20% this year due to the economic downturn and the impact of large online retailers.

As it stands, sales are far from pre-epidemic levels, but Didams is still grateful for it.

According to Diddamus, customers who visit the store can enjoy a 50% discount simply by saying they saw the store on TikTok.
