Product safety issues have always been a top priority in the US online market.

Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) announced the recall of WarmWave and Hunter ceramic tower heater products. The reason for the recall is that the heater's wires and plugs may overheat during use, causing a fire.

The recall involves WarmWave and Hunter 18-inch 1500-watt oscillating ceramic tower heaters, model number HPQ15G-M , with automatic shutoff and two heat settings. The model number can be found on the silver ETL label on the bottom of the heater .

The products were sold on online sites such as Amazon, eBay and Home Depot from September 2013 to February 2022 for about $30 to $40, with 580,000 units sold in the United States and 37,580 units sold in Canada.

To date, the CPSC has received eight reports of plugs or power cords catching fire and dozens of reports of plugs or power cords overheating. Although there have been no reports of injuries or deaths, there has been one report of minor property damage.

To this end, CPSC recommends that consumers should immediately stop using the product, unplug the power plug, follow the online instructions on how to properly disconnect the power cord, and contact the distributor Shenghua Group (North America) to obtain a certain percentage of the refund.

In recent months, recall incidents have occurred frequently in the US market, involving many categories, causing panic among sellers.

It is understood that the property losses caused by product safety issues in the United States exceed 1 trillion US dollars each year , so the CPSC's supervision of product safety is becoming more and more stringent. Once a safety hazard is discovered, it will be recalled and removed from the shelves immediately, and serious legal responsibilities will be pursued.

Data shows that in the first quarter of 2022, more than 900 million products were recalled in the US market, setting a record high in ten years.

U.S. regulators plan to continue to increase enforcement activities and conduct closer scrutiny of products sold in online marketplaces.

Therefore, for cross-border sellers, when selecting products, they must ensure that the products meet safety requirements and conduct detailed assessments of product safety issues to prevent losses caused by product removal.
