It’s outrageous! Amazon AI summarizes the seller’s positive reviews of the product into negative reviews

In the new era, the application of artificial intelligence is becoming more and more popular. For Amazon sellers, various AI functions can greatly simplify the workflow of sellers and operators, making daily work easier.

However, as the old saying goes, artificial intelligence has always been a double-edged sword, which brings convenience to people while also causing considerable troubles.

Some time ago, Amazon announced the launch of a new generative AI tool, saying that this tool can summarize customer reviews of products and generate a text description based on the product features and feedback frequently mentioned by users, and then display it directly next to the product details page.

Amazon's original intention was good. With this feature, consumers no longer need to read each review one by one. They can decide whether to buy the product by just reading a review summary.

However, a seller recently reported that after using Amazon’s AI summary, a product that originally had positive reviews turned into negative reviews.

According to the seller, he mainly sells beauty-related products. After recently using the AI summarization tool launched by Amazon, he found that it completely ruined his products.

It is understood that the seller's cosmetic bag originally had more than 1,000 reviews, with a score of 4.7, and most of the positive reviews praised the bag's good quality. However, after using AI summary, the product was labeled as "woven fabric" and the product reviews turned into negative reviews.

The seller was very confused about this. First, why was a cosmetic bag simply labeled as "woven fabric"? Second, even if the product material was good, most consumers still gave it good reviews. Why did the AI summary turn it into bad reviews?

From the responses of other sellers, it can be seen that this is not an isolated case. One seller left a message saying that launching AI to summarize reviews is one of Amazon’s stupidest decisions.

Some sellers also said that this kind of AI summary was completely unable to show the characteristics of their products, so the sales of their stores began to plummet.

Some people believe that the only way to solve this situation is to let consumers themselves realize that such AI-summarized reviews are useless. Until then, consumers' purchasing decisions will still be influenced by these AI reviews.
