Amazon advises buyers to only refund, and sellers can't hold back

For many cross-border sellers, returns are a major cost issue. Previously, sellers on the platform have reported that they frequently only issue refunds.

Unexpectedly, this refund-only trend has now spread to Amazon.

According to feedback from a seller on the Amazon forum, he accidentally bought the wrong item while browsing Amazon, and only realized he had made the mistake when he received the goods.

So the seller quickly contacted Amazon customer service to apply for a return. Considering that this was his own problem, the seller expressed his willingness to bear the return shipping costs, but the response from Amazon customer service opened his eyes.

According to Amazon customer service, in this case, you can directly apply for a full refund, and you can keep the product. This operation directly shocked the seller, who said it was no wonder why so many people started to apply for a refund only.

Through this experience, the seller finally understood the mentality of those consumers who take advantage of the products. When getting products for free becomes a habit, who would be willing to spend money?

This incident also resonated with many sellers. One seller said, "Amazon's behavior is actually 'training' consumers to run away from their orders. I lose more than $4,000 every year due to returns. Amazon's treatment of sellers is likely to cause it to gradually decline like eBay. "

"I have been working for Amazon for 12 years, but in recent years, Amazon's policies have become increasingly unfavorable to sellers. Returns have always been a big problem. We have no way to intervene and communicate when customers want to return products. The platform will directly approve the customer's refund application and give us no chance to save the situation."

However, some sellers have analyzed that if the goods are returned, the seller will also need to bear the shipping and sorting fees. If the returned goods cannot be resold, it will be a greater loss. It is more cost-effective to directly refund the money.

Having said that, as the economic environment continues to decline, if more and more people begin to develop the habit of buying products for free, then sellers will definitely have a harder time in the future.
