As the demand for expansion of various platforms continues to increase, the importance of third-party sellers becomes increasingly prominent.

 

In 2022 alone , third-party sellers sold more than 4.1 billion products on Amazon's US site, with an average sales volume of more than $230,000. According to Amazon, more than 60% of sales on the US site come from third-party sellers , almost all of whom are small and medium-sized enterprises. The third-party sellers' stores on the US site have brought a wealth of products to the platform, and their sales and product sales have increased year by year, not only expanding the customer base in the United States, but also selling products outside the United States through international channels, with more than 260 million products exported .

 

Based on the sales of more than 4.1 billion products, third-party sellers in the US sold an average of 7,800 products per minute last year. Although the performance was gratifying, the sales share of third-party sellers also experienced a decline in the first quarter of last year. Fortunately, it resumed its upward trend in the second quarter and reached 59% in the fourth quarter, a year-on-year increase of 5%, setting a record high.

Within the United States, third-party sellers in rural areas (such as parts of Rhode Island, Illinois, Louisiana, West Virginia, and Wyoming) saw their sales on the platform increase by more than 40% year-over-year, highlighting the huge potential of this group across the country.

 

The impact of third-party sellers is not only in terms of sales, but also in employment. In the United States alone, third-party sellers have created approximately 1.5 million jobs. These jobs include management and operations positions, which have promoted employment and economic development across the United States.

 

Amazon said that these data highlight the strong alliance between Amazon and sellers, and also show the resilience of entrepreneurs in striving to move forward and seek development in a challenging economic environment. The platform invests billions of dollars each year and continues to provide valuable wages and resources to help entrepreneurs reach more customers, thereby rapidly expanding their scale and taking brand growth to new heights.
