Optimistic about this year's market! 70% of e-commerce sellers said that they mainly attract new customers this year

According to the latest e-commerce seller survey conducted by Vervaunt, 70% of e-commerce sellers believe that their top priority in 2023 is to acquire more new customers, and 58% of the sellers surveyed said they hope to achieve this goal by increasing investment.

When asked how optimistic they were about the next 12 months, the vast majority of respondents answered above 7 out of 10, with 34% answering 7 and 30% giving it 8.

The results are very close to the ratings given by sellers last year, despite concerns about the current economic situation and a possible recession.

Paul Rogers, chairman and co-founder of Vervaunt, said: " Most e-commerce brands are making acquiring new customers their top priority for 2023, while also hiring new employees. This is positive for the industry and shows that they still have confidence in their business growth. "

According to the survey data, in addition to acquiring new customers, e-commerce sellers also plan to improve conversion rates (60%), enter new markets (21%), increase profitability and reduce operating costs (19%), and increase customer lifetime value (19%) in 2023.

When asked in which areas they would increase investment this year, sellers said: acquiring new customers (58%), paid search and social media (27%), customer relationship management (22%), data analytics and insights (21%), and technology investment (19%).

When asked which areas they would reduce investment in this year, 39% of sellers answered paid advertising, followed by outdoor advertising (33%), paid search and social media (22%), and affiliate marketing (15%).

It is understood that Vervaunt is a paid media and e-commerce consulting company. This survey interviewed nearly 2,000 e-commerce sellers in the UK and the United States, most of whom have Amazon stores.
