Amazon backend reported an error again, the seller said: It’s too difficult!

Amazon sellers have had a really hard time recently. Just now, the send to Amazon page reported a collective error, and now some sellers have found that there seems to be a problem with the backend again.

Sellers cannot create new listings. What’s going on?

Is there another BUG in Amazon's backend ?

Recently, many sellers have reported that errors occurred when creating new listings.

According to one seller, he has been unable to create new listings since July 31, and the product listing pages seem to have changed since that date.

The seller said that he had been selling handicraft products and had never encountered any problems for many years, but encountered problems a few days ago.

According to the screenshots provided by the seller, he was asked to provide a data called "external product ID" when creating a new listing, but he had never been asked to provide similar data before, and he was not sure what the "external product ID" actually meant.

The seller said that if he checked the "I don't have a product ID" option, different feedback would appear depending on how many pictures were uploaded.

The backend showed that the seller needed to apply for a GTIN exemption, but this was something the seller had never encountered in all the years he had been on Amazon. After that, the seller tried to upload more pictures, but the system did not report an error again, which confused the seller for a while.

If the seller fills in the relevant information according to the previous process, another error will appear. According to the screenshot provided by the seller, the system will report "attributes invalid".

The seller said that the error occurred on the same day that the "Add Product" tool was updated, which should be July 31. Because he had just created a new listing on July 30, and the "Add Product" tool for creating new listings was still in the previous regular format.

The seller has opened a case to report the situation to Amazon, but has not received any effective solution so far. The seller then shared his experience on the forum, and unexpectedly many sellers said they had encountered similar situations.

"I've reported the same error! A case has been opened. Please let me know if there is any progress!"

"This is exactly the same problem I encountered! I am also a seller of handmade products, and it is really frustrating to encounter this situation. After trying to solve the problem in the 'Help Center' to no avail, I also opened a case yesterday. I hope it can be resolved soon."

As the incident continued to ferment, Amazon officials seemed to be aware of the problem. Under this post, Amazon's official customer service replied: "Based on your description, I guess there may be some problems with the backend product ID requirements. The problem is now under review. If your case is closed without a solution, please contact me again and I will try to help you solve the problem."

Judging from the current feedback, most of the sellers with problems seem to be selling handmade products. In addition to this seller, another seller who sells handmade watercolor wall art prints also posted a post complaining about a similar situation.

It can be seen that although the so-called backend BUG also appeared in this update , the sellers affected were relatively small, so the scope of the impact of this error was not that wide.

However, although this BUG did not cause large-scale error reports, the frequency of listing-related problems has indeed been very high recently.

Amazon listing-related issues frequently occur

Some sellers are unable to create new listings, while others have their old listings deleted inexplicably, which is even more frustrating and will have a greater impact.

Some time ago, a large number of products were misjudged by Amazon, resulting in the deletion of links, which affected the normal operations of many sellers.

It is understood that at that time a large number of sellers reported that their products were suddenly judged as children's jewelry by Amazon, and the links were subsequently deleted.

Many sellers are very confused about this, because their products are not children's jewelry. Is there another BUG?

A seller once said that his products had been selling normally before, but were suddenly banned from sale, and the platform also required relevant certification. However, because his products were not children's jewelry, he naturally did not have the relevant certification for children's jewelry.

Industry insiders said that most of the products sold by these sellers are adult jewelry, but the system mistakenly identified them as children's jewelry because of some words that accidentally appeared in the titles and descriptions. This "one-size-fits-all" judgment method has caused many innocent sellers to suffer huge economic losses.

A seller of adult jewelry said that he was not selling children's jewelry, but was marked by the system and 90 links were not allowed to be sold. Some sellers had more than 10 links deleted, and some sellers had hundreds of links affected.

Another jewelry seller said that he had been selling on Amazon for 15 years and was now required to provide compliance documents for "children's jewelry." According to Amazon, the scope of children's jewelry is under 12 years old, but my products are not for children under 12 years old. After the appeal was rejected, Amazon deleted the listings I created over the years.

On the other hand, many children's category sellers have recently reported that Amazon is continuously strengthening its review of the authenticity of CPC certificates on the platform .

At present, a large number of sellers have received official emails from Amazon, informing them that their accounts have been deactivated, their funds have been withheld, and it is extremely difficult to appeal.

It is understood that these sellers had submitted false materials before, and Amazon has now “retaliated” against them. According to Amazon’s policy, all compliance documents required to be provided must be original, authentic, and unmodified.

Relevant service providers said that it is very difficult to successfully appeal in this situation.

Some industry insiders believe that Amazon's actions may be related to a new regulation recently issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which states that Amazon needs to bear corresponding legal responsibilities for products that do not meet safety standards or have defects.

Under the pressure of this regulation, it is no wonder that Amazon has begun to increase its review of sellers.

Regardless of whether it is a misjudgment by Amazon or there are indeed operational problems on the part of senior sellers, it is certain that sellers have indeed encountered a lot of problems recently. In this case, operating in compliance seems to be even more important.
