Indonesian fashion products account for 86.63% of halal product transactions

Nowadays, online shopping has become the preferred shopping method for people in various countries. By shopping through online platforms, consumers can have more choices and can also enjoy the discounts provided by the platforms.


Due to the epidemic, online shopping activities for halal products in Indonesia have continued to expand .


Bank Indonesia ( BI) noted that fashion products dominated halal product transactions through e-commerce platforms , accounting for 86.63% of total transactions last year .


The implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) had an impact on consumer spending on fashion products in 2020 ,” the central bank said in its 2020 Economic and Financial Report .


During the epidemic , the sales of online fashion products are different from those of offline fashion products.


Data from the 2020 Traditional Commodity Sales Index showed that retail-related data fell sharply. In addition to fashion products, personal care and cosmetics products accounted for the largest proportion, at 4.56%.


This was followed by halal food and beverages ( 2.73% ), books and stationery ( 2.07% ), electronic products ( 1.26% ) , automobiles and accessories ( 1.06% ) and others ( 1.71% ) .


It is reported that data from Bank Indonesia ( BI) showed that the total transaction volume of halal products through e-commerce platforms increased by 49.52% between May and December 2020 compared with the same period in 2019.


As of May 2020, due to the arrival of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the transaction volume of various products on e-commerce platforms has surged, and the transaction volume of fashion products has increased significantly.


This year's Ramadan is approaching. In addition to fashion products, it is expected that Indonesians' demand for beef will increase during this period. To this end, the government has issued a policy on imported beef.


It is reported that 19 containers of imported beef from Brazil have entered Indonesia. Asnawi, chairman of the Indonesian Meat Trade Association (APDI), pointed out that these imported beef have arrived at Pandejian Port in Surabaya, East Java.
