SHEIN begins promoting "recycling of inventory raw materials"

Recently, fast fashion retailer Shein announced a partnership with global circular economy company Queen of Raw to achieve the goal of "full recycling" by 2050.

The collaboration is part of Shein’s “evoluSHEIN” initiative, which aims to put sustainable economics at the forefront of the company’s growth vision .

The fashion retailer will use Queen of Raw’s Materia MX software to source excess fabrics from other brands and retailers , reducing their raw material inventory.

This process helps reduce the use of textile resources , avoids waste within the fashion industry and " creates a blueprint for business models that leverage the circular economy . "

Shein said the partnership would help it become "one of the world's leaders in repurposing stockpiled raw materials".

Caitrin Watson, sustainability director at Shein , said: “Partnering with Queen of Raw will support us in our journey towards a more circular system, starting with the design of our products .

Because Shein’s business model is to manufacture products according to demand , we do not stockpile excess fabric, which is one of the biggest challenges facing the fashion industry and a challenge to resource sustainability .

“We are prepared to purchase high-quality stock materials that will help us reduce the environmental impact of our products and become a circular solution for other businesses.
