Shopee’s 12.12 birthday sale kicks off, with the number of items sold by new cross-border sellers increasing 40 times in the first two hours

December 12, 2022, China - The leading e-commerce platform Shopee's 12.12 birthday promotion kicked off today, and strong cross-border categories such as mobile phones, tablets and accessories, women's clothing, home life, beauty, and fashion accessories continued to sell well. In the first two hours, new cross-border sellers performed outstandingly, with the number of goods sold increasing 40 times compared to the same period on weekdays; domestic brands were popular, and the number of goods sold on Shopee Mall increased 19 times compared to the same period on weekdays.


 


As of 2am, Shopee 12.12 has stimulated Southeast Asia’s year-end online shopping enthusiasm with a vast array of high-quality and low-priced products, meeting consumers’ diverse holiday consumption needs:

 

● Electronics: More and more Southeast Asian consumers choose to support domestic 3C home appliances and use them as year-end gifts to reward themselves

: Domestic mobile phones and Bluetooth headsets are extremely popular, and small appliances that improve the quality of life, such as sweeping robots, air fryers, and mini washing machines, are highly favored by consumers;

 

● Fashion category: Clothing and accessories that cater to the festive atmosphere at the end of the year continue to gain popularity. A pair of earrings for good luck in the new year sold 200 times more in two hours in the Malaysian market than on weekdays. Southeast Asian moms are buying holiday children's suits one after another. A cross-border seller's Christmas baby clothing sold in the first two hours in the Philippine market increased 116 times year-on-year.

 

● Lifestyle categories: Balloons, Christmas lights and other festive decorations are in high demand, and cartoon stickers, holiday cards and cross-stitch that convey blessings are among the best-selling cross-border products. In addition, consumers are also keen to replace sofas, chandeliers, bed frames and other high-priced furniture in their homes at the end of the year to add more "new" meaning to the home environment;

 

● Fast-moving consumer goods: With more frequent year-end parties and other festive activities, the consumption power of beauty products has been accelerated. The number of products sold in the hair care category has increased 23 times compared to the whole day on weekdays; the sales volume of new sellers in the makeup category has increased 100 times compared to the same period on weekdays, and the demand for lipstick, lip gloss, eye shadow and eyeliner has continued to rise.
