Today ( September 21), Amazon US issued an announcement stating that if a merchant's products require a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certificate of Conformity (COC), they must submit the EPA COC number on the seller platform before October 18, 2022.
Because in the United States, the Clean Air Act requires that manufacturers or importers of fuel-powered engines (including engines that are components of other products) and fuel-powered and electric vehicles must obtain a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certificate of Conformity (COC) certifying that they comply with federal emissions requirements before introducing them into commerce or importing them into the United States, sellers are responsible for determining whether any product they list on Amazon requires an EPA COC.
If the seller in question does not provide an EPA COC number by October 18, the seller’s new and existing listings may be removed until a valid EPA COC number is provided.
Among them, products requiring EPA COC include but are not limited to: fuel engines; fuel-powered lawn mowers/leaf blowers/chain saws/wood cutters and other tools; fuel-powered generators; fuel-powered marine engines and outboard motor engines; fuel-powered electric bicycle engine kits; fuel-powered off-road motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), off-road utility vehicles; fuel-powered and electric road motorcycles, etc.
The steps for submitting the EPA COC number are somewhat cumbersome. The specific steps are as follows:
To submit an EPA COC number for a single product , you need to first contact the manufacturer or importer of the product to obtain the EPA COC number; then log in to the Seller Central; go to the Inventory tab and select Manage Inventory; find the product information you want to edit and select Edit from its corresponding drop-down menu; in the new tab that pops up, navigate to the Safety & Compliance tab; scroll down to Compliance Regulation Type and select EPA Certificate of Conformity (CoC); enter the EPA COC number displayed in the COC document in the Regulatory Identification box; include the dashes and periods that exist in the COC number; finally, click Save and Finish.
The steps for submitting EPA COC numbers for multiple products are shown below:
Although the steps for submitting the EPA COC number are rather cumbersome, sellers still need to do it as soon as possible to avoid the product being removed.
However, in place of the EPA COC number, Amazon said it will also accept a valid California Air Resources Board Executive Order (CARB EO) number to prove compliance with California emission requirements, but relevant certification information will also need to be submitted.
In addition, sellers should also note that Amazon has issued a National Day holiday announcement. If sellers are not operating during the National Day holiday from October 1, 2022 to October 7, 2022, they must set their accounts to vacation mode to avoid ignoring orders that may affect seller performance.
