On June 19 , at the 7th Shenzhen International Cross-border E-commerce Trade Expo, Si Yu, head of Cainiao International Freight's major customer solutions, announced the launch of Cainiao's China- US preferential shipping line , which supports the timeliness of ships and goods in terms of space guarantee , berthing windows, and port pickup , and realizes a "one-price" 30- day delivery from domestic factories to overseas warehouses in the United States . This shipping line can improve the timeliness of the entire chain of logistics by more than 30 % , saving merchants an average of 20 % in logistics costs .
Affected by the global COVID -19 pandemic, the domestic and international industrial supply chains are not smooth, and the container market is experiencing a phenomenon of "hard to get a container" to varying degrees. Siyu said at the press conference that it is against this background that Cainiao took the lead in integrating logistics resources such as shipping, ports, and customs clearance to provide integrated services for cross-border merchants , and through shipping services with highly certain prices and timeliness, it further reduces costs and improves efficiency for Chinese goods going overseas.
The reporter learned that Cainiao's China-US preferential shipping line has three cargo ships per month, departing from ports such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, and Yantian. On average, each ship can carry 2,000-4,000 TEUs (standard containers) and is expected to arrive at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in the United States in about 15 days . Port-to-warehouse transportation can cover most warehouses near the ports. In order to shorten the waiting time, Cainiao cooperated with the terminal to open a green delivery channel. Cainiao provides its own racks to the terminal, and the terminal port trailers give priority to Cainiao merchants to pick up goods, shortening the waiting time to within 2 days.
Siyu said at the conference that due to frequent congestion at overseas ports, containers are stacked layer by layer, and it is difficult to pick up goods from the bottom containers. In the peak season, not only do you have to wait for more than 10 days , but you will also incur abnormal fees such as large demurrage fees. In response to this, Cainiao has set up a container yard near the port to stack containers of different customers in different categories, so that you can achieve a smooth "pick up and go" pickup experience.
In addition, the empty containers returned from the warehouse to the port will also incur abnormal costs when they are stranded at the terminal, accounting for more than 15 % of the total logistics costs . In response to this, Cainiao China-US Special Shipping Line provides customers with highly certain logistics prices that are not affected by fluctuations in shipping prices, and also includes abnormal costs such as port demurrage and container demurrage caused by reasons other than the customer, truly realizing the "one price" from China-US port to warehouse.
" E-commerce goods are characterized by a wide variety and strong timeliness. Compared with the current high air freight costs, small capacity and fuse risk, sea freight is more in line with the choice of most customers . " Siyu said at the conference that many domestic small and medium-sized merchants face problems such as abandoned containers, abnormal fees, and long waiting periods for delivery due to their small cargo volume and low bargaining power. The preferential sea freight line opened by Cainiao this time, through the combination of Cainiao's own containers and truck frames + sea freight lines, has no intermediate price difference, which will help cross-border merchants "go global" with higher efficiency and lower costs , and prepare for the upcoming peak shipping season.
