vivo and Shopee exclusively launch T series smartphones, setting off a mobile gaming boom in Southeast Asia

June 16, 2022, China - Recently, vivo, a leading global technology company, exclusively teamed up with Shopee, a leading e-commerce platform, to launch the new vivo T series smartphones: vivo T1 5G and T1x in five markets in Southeast Asia. Shopee tailored the " Get. Set. Turbo" online launch event for the vivo T series, using new forms such as KOL evaluation and live shopping to help vivo accurately reach young audiences. With this exclusive cooperation, vivo has comprehensively upgraded the mobile entertainment experience for Southeast Asian gamers, deeply reached local consumers, and effectively enhanced the regional brand value.

In recent years, the penetration rate of smartphones in Southeast Asia has increased, and mobile games have been rapidly popularized, driving the strong growth of the mobile game market: it is predicted that the number of mobile game players in Southeast Asia will exceed 250 million in 2021. The huge traffic has also brought considerable e-sports revenue to Southeast Asia: it is expected that by 2024, the compound annual growth rate of e-sports revenue in Southeast Asia will reach 20.8%, nearly twice the global value, ranking among the top in the world .

In this context, the rapidly expanding mobile game player group has put forward higher requirements for gaming equipment . Similar emerging consumer demands continue to appear in the Southeast Asian market, which also brings opportunities to many technology brands including vivo. In 2017, vivo officially settled in Shopee and opened a store in Shopee Mall. Since its launch, Shopee Mall has attracted more than 30,000 brands from all over the world to settle in, and has become an indispensable new position for brands to enter the Southeast Asian market.

Based on the long-term cooperation with vivo and the precise insight into the online behavior of young people in Southeast Asia, Shopee tailored an online launch event called " Get. Set. Turbo" for the vivo T series. The event invited well-known KOLs from the fields of technology and games to conduct unboxing and evaluation of new products, and live demonstrations on Shopee Live. While watching the live broadcast and participating in the rush to buy, the audience can also enjoy exclusive discounts and rich gifts. It is reported that this event has received a total of millions of views, and tens of thousands of items have been sold in only three markets, of which 90% of the orders come from new fans of the brand. With the real-time unboxing and detailed demonstrations of KOLs through Shopee Live, consumers can personally feel the charm of the product even when they are online.

Shopee said: Vivo’s products are powerful and innovative, and we are pleased to see it gradually become a technology brand that is loved by Southeast Asian consumers. Shopee users are full of mobile game players who come to Shopee not only to buy their favorite products, but also to enjoy a relaxing entertainment and social experience. We look forward to this first collaboration to bring more joy to the platform users.

vivo said: The younger generation is no stranger to online experiences, and esports, mobile gaming and shopping are no exception, so we are excited to launch the T series smartphones exclusively on Shopee with the ‘Get. Set. Turbo’ campaign, allowing consumers to explore the powerful features of the new products while enjoying exclusive discounts online. We are also looking forward to the first Turbo Cup esports challenge in partnership with PUBG, and look forward to further deepening vivo’s engagement with local consumers while igniting the passion of mobile gamers in Southeast Asia for esports.

The first vivo Turbo Cup e-sports challenge, a collaboration between vivo and the popular game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), will be held in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The total prize money for the champion is as high as US$20,000. The exciting competition will continue to ignite young audiences and ignite the e-sports craze in Southeast Asia.
