Amazon is the most visited e-commerce website in Spain

Recently, the 2021 Spanish e-commerce survey report presented by market research company Tandem Up showed that Amazon is the most popular in the Spanish market, with 89% of traffic . In addition, cross-border e-commerce platforms such as AliExpress and eBay are also very popular.

The top ten e-commerce platforms in terms of popularity among Spanish users are: Amazon (89%) , AliExpress ( 59%) , El Corte Inglés (45%) , Decathlon ( 40%) , eBay (39%) , Carrefour ( 38%) , MediaMarkt (34%) , Zalando (29%) , Leroy Merlin (26%) , and Fnac (25%) . Amazon and AliExpress still firmly hold the top two positions in Spanish e-commerce platforms, but eBay ranks slightly behind.

There are currently 26 million online consumers in Spain aged between 18 and 70. The survey shows that 7% of respondents make online purchases more than twice a month , and 27% make purchases once every two months , which means that although all respondents have had online shopping experience, they are not very dependent on it.

32 % of the respondents spent 51-100 euros on online shopping , and 19% spent less than 25 euros. 40% of the respondents (mainly men) said they increased their online shopping spending , while 10% (mainly women) reduced their spending .

Segmented by product category, the current top ten categories in the Spanish e-commerce market are: home furnishings , electronic products , clothing and footwear , computers , sporting goods , books and audio-visual products, beauty products , office supplies , toys , and jewelry . Among them, home furnishings still rank first , while beauty products, medicines, maternal and child products, and food have performed well and have grown significantly . In addition, the demand for pets, auto parts and other products has declined.

Compared with women, men do not tend to prefer a particular e-commerce platform, and are more interested in electronics, sporting goods, and audio-visual books. On the contrary, women tend to buy on Amazon and AliExpress , and are more interested in buying beauty products and perfumes.

Spain is one of the potential markets for the development of e-commerce in Europe. Consumers' consumption scenarios are gradually shifting from physical stores to online. Sellers can understand relevant consumer demand, prepare popular products, and be prepared for explosive orders.
