Since the outbreak, eBay Germany has added more than 11,000 new sellers

Recently, according to foreign media reports, since March 22, 2020, eBay Germany has added more than 11,000 new sellers.

Specifically, so far during the epidemic, more than 11,200 sellers have registered on eBay, generating a total turnover of approximately 96 million euros, of which more than 2,500 active new sellers have achieved revenue growth.

This growth is related to a series of policies adopted by eBay. After the epidemic blockade, in order to help sellers conduct online trade more conveniently and quickly and reduce their burden, eBay Germany promptly launched an assistance plan to support small businesses and local retailers. Coupled with the follow-up plan implemented in January 2021, new sellers will receive free premium services and a three-month sales commission reduction, which attracted a large number of new sellers.

The assistance program includes supporting new sellers through so-called "keeper services" and other advanced services, while using the platform's traffic and promotion to help new sellers sell faster, increasing sales while consolidating new sellers. For example, in terms of inventory digitization, eBay helps sellers complete the setup by providing photos, titles, article descriptions, product features, etc.

In addition, in the spring of 2021, eBay also launched the "eBay your city" program, which aims to provide a new platform for local sellers and consumers. Starting from the initial 10 cities participating in the program, it has now expanded to 24 cities.

Recently, eBay Germany announced a partnership with Klarna to support buy now, pay later and provide users with more diverse payment options. According to the two companies, the launch of the new payment method will be carried out in stages, starting with some selected sellers in the next few weeks and fully implemented later this year.

As the pandemic drives the development of global e-commerce, there are more and more emerging platforms, and eBay's market share has gradually declined. In particular, the platform's sales mainly come from old sellers, so eBay's main strategy has also begun to shift towards consolidating old customers. In terms of market positioning, eBay is also seeking business growth by focusing on several categories, such as luxury watches, handbags, collectibles, sports shoes, etc.

As competition intensifies, eBay is also optimizing its platform and taking a series of measures to increase its market share.
