Indonesia
In Southeast Asia, taking Indonesia as an example, its hot topics related to beauty and personal care are mainly: #skincare (4.9 million), #potongrambut (1.2 million), #rambut (1.2 million), #makeuptutorial (991 million) and #racunskincare (548.9 million); potential topics include: #collagendrink (170.5 million), #hairtutorial (165.8 million), #skincareasmr (133.8 million), #glowingskin (103.7 million) and #sunscreenviral (52.9 million).
In addition to listing popular topics, TikTok also disclosed some marketing cases. A typical example is the 54-year-old TikTok rising star who accidentally drove the Peter Thomas Roth eye cream to sell out.
Last year, 54-year-old Trinidad Sandoval posted a video on TikTok to show her 70 or so followers the effects of her eye cream. In the three-minute video, she applied the cream to one of her eye bags, and the bags miraculously disappeared. The video then went viral online, with skincare influencers, beauty experts, actresses and others joining in the discussion. Within a week, the video received 23 million likes and thousands of comments.
Affected by the video, the firming eye cream was sold out at one point, and all retailers and official websites showed it was out of stock. The brand's founder and CEO said that the sales in less than a week were roughly equivalent to six months of sales under normal circumstances.
In response to this, TikTok stated that creators or brands can first produce some distinctive videos or start some interesting challenges, and invite Internet celebrities to encourage more people to participate in the discussion, thereby promoting sales. Brands can then carry out other activities to maintain brand popularity.
TikTok traffic is unstable, and some sellers’ accounts have been blocked
Although there are excellent cases in the past, some people have reported that the traffic of TikTok videos is not stable. A seller said: TikTok's orders are not stable. Yesterday, a short video on TikTok suddenly became popular, and more than 20 orders were sold for a single product, but there were no orders today. The seller analyzed the reasons and believed that the traffic in TikTok is in waves, short videos will not be pushed all the time, and live broadcasts are even more indirect, so it is like winning the lottery. For this reason, the seller also extended to a question, that is, how to prepare goods. If it is prepared in overseas warehouses, how to calculate the sales estimate?
In addition to thinking about this issue, sellers also need to pay attention to the account blocking issue. Amazon is not the only platform that likes to block accounts, other platforms will also block accounts to some extent.
Recently, a seller reported that several TikTok accounts were blocked. Although the reason for the blockage is not yet clear, the seller believes that it may be related to IP control.
In fact, common violations include: posting illegal content, sending spam to other users, buying fake fans, using one device with multiple accounts, and using unsafe third-party programs to try to profit from TikTok...
In addition, sellers must pay attention to content issues and try to be as original as possible; there are also copyright issues. Some music will be removed from the shelves due to copyright issues, which will also affect the video.
One thing that is easy to overlook is that we must respect the customs and habits of each country. For example, uploading a video of a balloon carrying a puppy flying on Douyin may win a lot of likes, but if it is posted on TiKTok, there is a chance that it will be removed for harming animals.
As for how to request unblocking, some users said on the forum that they should submit an appeal form online and describe the ban as much as possible so that the official can review the appeal and reactivate the account. However, sometimes filling out the appeal form may not necessarily unblock the account, or it may not be possible to fill out the appeal form at all. In this case, you can send a TikTok user service email to file an appeal.
In addition, if your account is permanently banned and you cannot log in to the TikTok app interface, you can directly send an email to TikTok's official customer service email address. However, with this method, sometimes you may need to send multiple times to get a reply.
It can be said that TikTok’s presence in the world is becoming stronger and stronger.
According to Apptopia, TikTok's global downloads in 2021 were 656 million, ranking first on the list for the third consecutive year. Last September, TikTok announced that its global monthly active users had exceeded the 1 billion mark, an increase of 45% since July 2020. It is understood that it took Facebook and YouTube 8 years to reach 1 billion users, while TikTok did it in just 5 years.
Faced with such a huge traffic pool, TikTok has also begun to pave the way for e-commerce, and has successively opened small stores in Indonesia and the United Kingdom in 2021. This year, TikTok small stores have also added three new sites in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Not only that, TikTok has also cooperated with Shopify to allow Shopify sellers to sell goods in TikTok.
As the "traffic + TikTok business environment" is getting better and better, many sellers have set their sights on the TikTok market. However, in order to firmly grasp the "traffic code", in addition to keeping a close eye on TikTok's trends, you must also consider compliance issues, and you must also rationally analyze the pros and cons of selling on TikTok, so as to achieve scientific management and maximize profits.
