Attention, sellers on the US site, Amazon’s return policy has been updated again!

Customer returns in e-commerce are an important part of the shopping experience. In order to improve the shopping experience of Amazon customers and complete product returns faster, Amazon US recently released a new announcement.

The announcement stated that starting June 1, 2022, sellers who handle their own orders will need to provide Amazon with a valid return address.

If the item is returned via an Amazon prepaid return label and cannot be delivered by Amazon Logistics due to an incorrect return address provided by the seller, the return will be considered abandoned and Amazon will sell, recycle, donate or otherwise dispose of it.

Although the return addresses of most sellers are valid, there are still some sellers who provide addresses that cannot be found, so Amazon issued this announcement.

Common reasons for returns on Amazon

Many sellers expressed dissatisfaction with this announcement because many common reasons for returns are not caused by seller problems.

Common reasons for returns include unavailable stock , buyer not receiving order due to delivery issues , buyer not liking the item received, etc.

There’s no denying that returns are an important part of e-commerce sales , even for the world’s most profitable and largest e-commerce company like Amazon .

A valid return address is an effective way to solve the buyer's return problem. Amazon Logistics will return the goods to the address specified by the seller, and the seller will handle it on his own.

Amazon handles the return process for sellers who place orders on its own

Regardless of whether the return is caused by the seller or not, the return process must be set up perfectly to enhance the consumer's shopping experience.

Sellers need to provide consumers with one of the following three conditions: a valid return address , an appropriate prepaid return label , or a full refund without returning the product . Otherwise, consumers can seek help with returns from AZ Guarantee Claim.

If a consumer sends merchandise valued at $100 or more within the United States , he or she will be required to include a signature from the shipping service when shipping.

If a consumer returns an item valued at $35 or more , he should return it to the seller along with a tracking link for the shipping service.

For items under $35, Amazon recommends that buyers use USPS shipping service for returns .

As an Amazon seller, you should pay close attention to Amazon's return policies and provide consumers with the latest return services.
