Young Americans prefer mobile online shopping, with Generation Z accounting for a higher proportion

Online shopping has basically become a daily routine for many American consumers, but initially, most people did their online shopping through computers. According to foreign media reports, the latest report from payment company Klarna shows that 68% of American consumers now use mobile phones for online shopping more frequently than in 2019 .

 

According to the survey report, more than 80% of consumers shop online, of which 46% of American consumers prefer to shop online through mobile phones , and 41% of American consumers prefer desktop computers. Of course, American online shoppers will also search and compare on major websites before placing an order, and then choose the most cost-effective store products to buy.

 

It is understood that now more than 90 % of American consumers have installed shopping apps on their mobile phones . Among these groups, young people have the highest proportion of mobile online shopping, with Generation Z accounting for 79% and Millennials accounting for 77%.

 

Since young people are interested in new things, keep up with trends, and have a certain source of income, coupled with the impact of the global epidemic in the past two years, the popularity of online consumption has been further promoted. Therefore, the group of people who shop conveniently and fast online is expanding.

 

Among online shopping products, electronic products for working from home ( 85%), entertainment equipment (79%), and clothing and footwear (78%) are more popular among consumers , and more than half of consumers are willing to make various comparisons before purchasing such products .

 

In addition, small kitchen appliances and interior decoration products such as carpets remain very popular online shopping products among American consumers.

 

Of course, the penetration of mobile payments, electronic cards and virtual cards has accelerated the advancement of online consumption. It is understood that nearly 37% of consumers in the United States use virtual cards for online payments . The penetration rate of virtual cards ranks second in the world . This is also the favorite payment method of millennials .

 

In addition to the product itself, the timeliness of online shopping logistics and transportation is also a concern that consumers care about very much. Relevant sellers must pay attention to the transportation efficiency of store logistics and transportation to improve shoppers' consumption experience.
