According to the Peru Retail News, due to the outbreak and the implementation of the home isolation policy, Peru's e-commerce has also achieved significant growth. Products such as masks, alcohol gel, headphones, mobile phones and fitness dumbbells are at the top of the 2020 product best-selling list. The sales of electronic technology products and household products have also soared by 500% and 300% respectively. According to statistics from Makedoo, a leader in Latin American e-commerce, the number of Makedoo users in Peru increased by 17 million in 2020, with the fastest growth in users aged 18-34. Other data show that as of the third quarter of 2020, the number of online buyers in Peru increased by 200%. In addition, Peru's online consumers are mainly concentrated in Lima, the capital of Peru, accounting for 54%, and other provinces account for 46%.
Looking back at the trend changes of hot-selling products in 2020, it can be found that in the first few months of the epidemic isolation, sales of entertainment and fitness products increased by 61%; the hot selling trend of home fitness products began to appear in May, among which the products with the fastest sales growth were yoga mats, mattresses, elastic bands and dumbbells; in June, portable speakers were the best-selling product in Peru; dumbbells had outstanding sales in October; the best-selling product in November was bicycles; at the end of the year, from mid-November to December, the best-selling product in Peru was again wireless headphones.
From January 31 to February 14, many places in Peru will return to lockdown
In addition to paying attention to the above product selection trends, sellers also need to pay attention to the new round of epidemic "lockdown" measures announced by Peru on January 26 local time . On that day, Peru reported 4,444 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,107,239, with 40,107 deaths . Therefore, the Peruvian government announced that new lockdown measures will be implemented in 10 of the 25 regions, including the capital Lima .
Ten regions, including Áncash, Pasco, Huánuco, Junín, Huancabelica, Ica, Apurímac, Lima Región, Lima Metropolitana and Callao, have been listed as "extremely dangerous" areas by the Peruvian government. The lockdown measures will be implemented from January 31 and are tentatively scheduled to be lifted on February 14.
After the city is locked down, shopping malls, department stores, etc. in the city will be closed at all times, but deliveries will be allowed; restaurants and catering industries will also be closed at all times, but takeout delivery will be allowed; other entertainment venues and outdoor activities will all be closed or cancelled; basic supplies including food and medicines will be allowed to operate at 40%; banks and other financial institutions will be allowed to operate at 40%.
In addition, during the mandatory quarantine period, land and air transportation will be completely closed, and only one member of each household will be allowed to go out for one hour a day to purchase daily necessities.
Therefore, sellers should pay attention to inventory and delivery arrangements to avoid losses due to goods being stranded and warehouse overflows caused by the epidemic lockdown. Peru Lockdown Hot Sellers |
