eBay UK sellers increased by 237%, one every two minutes

eBay UK recently issued an announcement stating that since the outbreak of the epidemic , the number of start-ups on eBay UK has increased by 237% , equivalent to a new company registered every two minutes .

Over the past year , these startups have sold more than 72 million items , with home and garden , electronics, and fashion being the most popular categories last year .

eBay UK invested £33 million last year to help hundreds of thousands of small businesses on the platform cope with the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic . The huge increase in the number of these start-ups may be closely related to the support measures provided by eBay UK .

As the UK's epidemic control measures are relaxed , eBay UK's focus has now shifted to how to enable these startups to continue to grow and develop .

To this end , eBay UK has launched new support measures and provided a series of new seller benefits , including a 5% reduction in fees and a 75% reduction in new listing costs for existing and new sellers to help them better sell online ; eBay UK also provides consumers with coupons and discounts to stimulate them to purchase goods from small businesses ; and has invested in training programs to help sellers make full use of the eBay platform ; in addition , they have also increased publicity for the small business seller market through television , social media , brochures and online media .

Rob Hattrell, head of eBay Europe, said: " The COVID-19 pandemic will continue to harm businesses in the coming years , with small and medium-sized enterprises being the hardest hit . It is more important than ever that we step up our efforts to support and help small businesses . The series of new measures we have introduced are also to help small businesses grow . We also hope that the 29 million buyers on our platform will join us in supporting British entrepreneurship ."

Earlier this year , eBay UK also pledged to cover the cost of the digital services tax for its hundreds of thousands of small sellers , while other platforms have passed the cost on to sellers .

eBay UK will continue to invest in small businesses . From this point of view , the development prospects of small businesses on eBay UK are still quite promising . We also hope that small businesses will be able to regain vitality after the epidemic gradually subsides !
