UPS and FedEx stop shipping to Russia and Ukraine

The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its fifth day. In addition to the concern about the war situation, the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine on the global economy and supply chain has also concerned tens of thousands of foreign trade people. Some people believe that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine may lead to the disruption of the industrial chain and supply chain, and will also have a certain negative impact on global economic development.

Recently, two of the world's largest logistics companies, United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx Corp , said that in view of the current tense situation in Russia and Ukraine, in order to ensure the safety of relevant personnel , they will suspend delivery services to Russia and Ukraine.

UPS said in its announcement: "Due to the situation in Ukraine, the following UPS services have been suspended: All shipping services to, from and within Ukraine affecting pickup and delivery (effective February 24 – until further notice); International shipments to destination addresses in Russia (effective February 25 – until further notice)."

UPS said the focus of this move is to ensure the safety of its employees. UPS will continue to monitor the situation closely and will resume service as soon as it is feasible and safe. In addition, packages that cannot be delivered during transportation will be returned to the sender free of charge when possible.

FedEx also issued an announcement on the 24th: "In view of the current situation, FedEx and TNT will suspend services in and outside Ukraine until further notice. Goods already in transit will be temporarily stored in our warehouses."

Additionally, FedEx Express shipments to and from the U.S., Canada and Latin America may be delayed due to operational challenges related to Omicron . FedEx Express has contingency plans in place, including plans to add additional capacity to transport delayed shipments .

It was not immediately clear whether the two companies continue to use Russian airspace as part of their general operations. Neither company immediately responded to requests for comment .

Meanwhile, German logistics company Deutsche Post DHL also said it had suspended shipments to and from Ukraine and was avoiding Ukrainian airspace for its global operations.
