Recently, the Australian Wildlife Rescue Association called on Amazon, eBay and other shopping platforms to stop selling glue traps. Consumers buy glue traps to catch creatures such as cockroaches and mice, but this often hurts other animals by mistake.
The Wildlife Rescue Association has drawn people's attention by sharing horrific pictures of animals such as bats, lizards, and magpies stuck in glue traps, and hopes that shopping platforms will stop selling these products and that regulators will take certain actions.
In the face of public opinion, some shopping platforms have also expressed their attitudes.
Amazon Australia said it banned the sale of glue traps in the country . A spokesperson said: "We have a proactive approach in place to monitor stores and will penalise sellers who violate our policies."
Despite this, some Australians can still buy the above products through sites like Amazon US. In response, Amazon said that Amazon US will take certain measures to prevent sellers from shipping glue traps to Australia.
As for eBay Australia, it also said that it would not sell glue traps. Previously, Australian media exposed the sellers selling these products on the eBay platform, and eBay quickly removed these products.
Judging from the statements of the above shopping platforms, they all prohibit the sale of glue traps in Australia and will take measures to monitor these sales. Therefore, if there are sellers selling related products in Australia, they should pay attention. As for sellers on other sites, they should also pay attention to whether there are orders from Australia.
As the Wildlife Rescue Association said: "It's the 2020s, and we should have more humane ways to control pests." Amazon eBay Glue trap |
