Amazon launches website to fight antitrust bill in Congress

Amazon, the e-commerce giant, is developing rapidly around the world. The biggest challenge facing Amazon at present may be the control from regulators in various countries. Just this year, Amazon has faced antitrust investigations in many countries including India and Spain. The antitrust legislation recently introduced by the United States will also have a significant impact on Amazon.

Recently, Amazon launched a website to communicate with Amazon sellers to fight against antitrust bills in Congress. The website allows Amazon sellers to register to receive information about congressional antitrust legislation from Amazon's public policy team.

As early as June this year, the House Judiciary Committee approved a legislative package aimed at completely reforming US antitrust laws and controlling the power of large technology companies. The one that has the greatest impact on Amazon is the " End Platform Monopoly Act " , which will allow federal regulators to sue and split up some dominant platforms or directly manage some companies with obvious conflicts of interest .

Amazon claims that although the legislative process is still in its early stages , if formally enacted, these bills will jeopardize Amazon's ability to operate a marketplace for sellers . This could cause hundreds of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses in the United States to lose access to Amazon customers and services , damaging their current revenue capabilities. If the operations of small and medium-sized businesses on Amazon are affected, consumers will also lose a wider range of choices and more cost-effective products when shopping.

Amazon said that the purpose of creating this website is to let third-party sellers understand the latest situation of the legislation, the impact on their business activities, and provide them with the opportunity to express their opinions. In addition, after registering on the website, sellers will also have the opportunity to communicate directly with elected officials about the bill.

The website is another countermeasure after Amazon sent email warnings about the legislation to some sellers . As early as last week, Amazon's public policy team contacted a small number of Amazon sellers to discuss the legislation .

In addition to Amazon, tech giants such as Facebook and Google are also calling on the Judiciary Committee to break the legislation . We will continue to pay attention to the subsequent development of the legislation.
