Walmart adds 5,000 new Chinese sellers!

This year, many domestic sellers have been heartbroken by Amazon. The continuous wave of account bans, rising shipping costs, and historic port congestion have all added some pressure to the peak season in the second half of this year. Some sellers even said: "It's getting harder and harder to do business on Amazon. I want to find a new way out." Among them, many people have also taken Walmart into consideration.

According to data from the Internet, Walmart has added 5,000 sellers from China since opening its market to international sellers in March, accounting for more than 10% of all new sellers. As of October, 20% of all new sellers are from China. Although this is still far lower than Amazon, coupled with Walmart's recent investment in China, this proportion will surely continue to increase.

Among these new sellers, there are also some big names that we are familiar with, such as the big guys whose accounts were blocked on Amazon some time ago. Walmart has now become one of their new destinations . Many sellers such as Mpow, Tacklife, Ravpower, etc. have already opened stores in Walmart.

The relatively high threshold has always been one of the reasons why many sellers do not do business on Walmart, but some time ago, Walmart canceled the requirement that sellers on its market must be registered in the United States. It expressed its hope to cover all international sellers. In a related statement, it also said: " We have established strong relationships with many well-known companies around the world, but our requirements for sellers are also the most stringent in the industry. Therefore, we are opening our US market to international sellers. " Walmart also cooperated with Shopify to expand market capacity.

The number of sellers on Walmart’s platform surpassed 100,000 in July and has since reached nearly 120,000, doubling in size in a year. At the current pace, it will reach 200,000 by the end of 2022.

However, in terms of market capacity, Walmart is still far behind Amazon or eBay, and many sellers also said that the platform layout and functions need to be improved. Whether it is a good place to go remains to be seen. In addition to Walmart, independent sites are also one of the choices for sellers, and they are also prepared for long-term and stable operations, suitable for a protracted war rather than making quick money.

Each platform has its own advantages and disadvantages, and sellers still need to choose the appropriate layout channel based on their actual situation.
