Amazon Germany has a strong growth with a 90% audience share

As an e-commerce giant in Europe and the United States, Amazon is deeply loved by consumers in many regions, and its usage rate among German consumers is about 90%. Recently, Block-Builders conducted a survey on local e-commerce platforms, and Amazon topped many lists.

 

In terms of customer satisfaction, which includes consumers ' overall experience, delivery, returns and refunds , Amazon ranked first with a satisfaction rate of approximately 73%, and Zalando ranked second with a rate of 65%.

In terms of sales, Amazon is still the leader among all platforms, accounting for 53% of online sales in Germany , followed by Otto , Zalando and Media Markt.

 

The epidemic has boosted the development of e-commerce overall around the world, with Germany developing particularly strongly. In 2021, Amazon's sales in Germany reached 31.6 billion euros, an increase of nearly 6 billion euros compared to 2020.

 

In addition to online retail business , the network service department ( AWS) is also a very important part of Amazon's revenue. According to Amazon 's 2021 annual report , Amazon achieved $62 billion in revenue through cloud computing last year , accounting for 12% of its total revenue. In 2015, the total revenue of this business was only $7.8 billion.

 

According to foreign media reports, Germany 's total e-commerce sales in 2021 reached 99.1 billion euros, an increase of 19% over 2020. Online shopping has gradually become a habit for many consumers, and the development of e-commerce has become normalized. It is expected that sales will continue to grow in 2022.

 

Moreover, according to recent reports from foreign media, Germany may surpass the UK to become the new leader in the European e-commerce market. The European e-commerce market is in the process of development. Brexit has also imposed many restrictions on the development of the local e-commerce market in the UK. Coupled with the rapid growth of Germany, according to Statista's forecast, Germany's e-commerce share is expected to be in the leading position in 2025, accounting for 19% of the total European e-commerce sales , while the UK's share will drop to 18%.

 

As one of the important markets in Europe, Germany is also the target of many sellers’ layout, and relevant sellers must also keep up with the local development pace.
