2021 is an extraordinary year for cross-border e-commerce people. After the cross-border dividends brought by the 2020 epidemic gradually faded, what surfaced were port congestion, supply chain collapse, warehouse backlogs, and rectification from Amazon platform and other aspects.
In this context, the fate of many cross-border e-commerce companies is uncertain. Some companies are deserted and leave the market in disgrace, while others rise to the occasion and gain both fame and fortune. Overall, the development of China's cross-border e-commerce is still showing a steady upward trend.
China's cross-border e-commerce continues to grow, with total trade reaching 1.98 trillion yuan in 2021!
Despite multiple challenges such as Amazon's drastic restructuring and supply chain problems, China's cross-border e-commerce continues to grow. According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs of China, the total import and export volume of China's cross-border e-commerce in 2021 reached 1.98 trillion yuan, an increase of 15% compared with the same period last year .
Affected by the epidemic, the demand for Chinese products in the United States and Europe has surged. According to data from Dunhuang.com, the countries that import the most Chinese goods from Dunhuang.com are the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and France.
According to the news released by the General Administration of Customs of China recently, India's dependence on Chinese products is also increasing. In 2021, the total trade volume between China and India exceeded the 100 billion US dollar mark for the first time, reaching 125 billion US dollars. Among them, India's total imports from China exceeded 97.5 billion US dollars, setting a record high, covering a wide range of commodities from chemicals to electronic equipment.
In addition to the growth in international market demand for Chinese products, the development of China's e-commerce and the continuous improvement of the supply chain system are also important reasons for the continued development of China's cross-border e-commerce. In order to help cross-border e-commerce companies better explore the international market, the Chinese government and customs are working hard to improve relevant supporting measures. The "Belt and Road" strategy, the integration of the "China-Europe Express" and the cross-border e-commerce model are helping Chinese companies go overseas.
According to statistics, a total of 1,904 China-Europe trains "Yi-Xin-Ou" were launched in 2021, and 157,000 TEUs of containers were imported and exported under customs supervision, an increase of 36.1% and 35.95% year-on-year respectively. The number of China-Europe trains dispatched through Weihai has increased rapidly from more than 200 TEUs in 2018 to more than 20,000 TEUs with a total value of more than US$1.5 billion.
Countries along the Belt and Road have also become important overseas markets for many import and export companies. According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, as of December 5, 2021, the import and export transaction volume of cross-border e-commerce at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport exceeded 100 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.5 times . Among them, the total value of cross-border e-commerce goods exported to countries along the Belt and Road exceeded 22 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times.
After the dividend period of cross-border e-commerce, China's cross-border e-commerce is gradually entering a mature stage, and the scale of the industry has ushered in a steady growth. At present, with favorable national policies and the increasing recognition of Chinese brands in the international market, cross-border e-commerce business is becoming a new economic accelerator and a hot spot for investment and financing in the capital market.
The rise and fall of China's entire cross-border e-commerce industry also depends, to a certain extent, on the development of various provinces and cities.
Guangdong's total foreign trade import and export value accounts for 20% of the country's total
When talking about cross-border e-commerce, we have to mention Guangdong Province. As the largest foreign trade province in China, Guangdong plays a pivotal role in the cross-border e-commerce circle.
It is understood that the total value of Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports has ranked first in the country for 35 consecutive years. According to statistics from the Guangdong Branch of the Customs, in the first 11 months of 2021, the total value of Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports has exceeded the full-year scale of 2020. In 2021, the total value of Guangdong's foreign trade imports and exports exceeded 8 trillion yuan for the first time, reaching 8.27 trillion yuan, accounting for more than 20% of the country's total foreign trade imports and exports, an increase of 16.7% over 2020, a net increase of 1.18 trillion yuan.
As the saying goes, China's cross-border trade depends on Guangdong, and Guangdong's cross-border trade depends on Shenzhen. In 2021, Shenzhen's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports continued to maintain growth momentum, with the value of goods hitting a record high, and continued to rank among the top in the country. According to statistics from Shenzhen Customs, in 2021, Shenzhen's import and export of goods trade reached 3.54 trillion yuan, a record high, an increase of 16.2% over 2020. Among them, exports reached 1.92 trillion yuan, ranking first among mainland foreign trade cities for the 29th consecutive year, an increase of 13.5%.
In response to a series of turmoil in the cross-border circle this year, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce has also introduced a series of support policies to support cross-border e-commerce companies in exploring overseas markets through independent station sales channels.
Guangzhou's performance was equally impressive. In 2021, the total value of Guangzhou's foreign trade imports and exports was 1,082.59 billion yuan , exceeding one trillion yuan for the first time, making it the seventh trillion-yuan foreign trade city in the country , an increase of 13.5% over the same period last year. The total export value was 631.22 billion yuan, an increase of 16.4% over the same period last year, accounting for 12.5% of Guangdong Province's total exports.
In addition to Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the development of Shantou City should not be underestimated. According to Nan Fang Daily, from January to November 2021, the total import and export volume of Shantou's cross-border e-commerce reached 24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6 times ! The Shantou Statistical Yearbook 2021 report shows that Shantou's cross-border e-commerce accounts for about 40% of the city's total import and export volume!
In fact, apart from Guangdong Province, other provinces and cities are also developing rapidly.
Henan's cross-border e-commerce transaction volume exceeded 200 billion, ranking first in central and western China
According to data released by the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, the cross-border e-commerce transaction volume in Henan Province reached 201.83 billion yuan in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%, ranking among the top in the country and first in the central and western regions .
In 2021, the Ministry of Commerce approved the addition of three new cross-border e-commerce retail import pilot cities: Kaifeng, Jiaozuo and Xuchang. Currently, Henan Province has seven cross-border e-commerce retail import pilot cities, which have become an important driving force for the coordinated development of cross-border e-commerce.
In 2021, the cross-border e-commerce transaction volume of Zhengzhou was about 109.25 billion yuan, accounting for 52.1% of the provincial total; during the same period, the cross-border e-commerce transaction volume of Xuchang, the country's largest hair product export base, was about 18.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of about 6.8%; Luoyang, which is mainly based on industries such as construction machinery and office furniture, had a transaction volume of 6.17 billion yuan.
At the same time, the State Council also approved the launch of the country's first cross-border e-commerce retail imported medicine pilot project in Henan. This is an important achievement in the innovative development of Henan's cross-border e-commerce and a major measure to enhance the core competitiveness of cross-border e-commerce.
The Ministry of Commerce also recognized the Henan Bonded Logistics Center as a national e-commerce demonstration base. In 2021, the cross-border e-commerce transaction volume of the E-trade core function cluster area was 18.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.77%, becoming an important comprehensive foreign trade service platform and cross-border e-commerce industrial park in Henan.
In addition, in 2021, Henan Province also successfully held the 5th Global Cross-border E-commerce Conference, reaching 50 cooperation projects with a total amount of 18.6 billion yuan. Throughout the year, Longhao Airlines and other companies flew a total of 1,906 cargo charter flights, transporting nearly 100,000 tons of cross-border e-commerce goods, providing strong support for the "Air Silk Road".
It has to be said that cross-border e-commerce has become a bright business card for Henan Province's opening up to the outside world in recent years. The construction of the "Online Silk Road" has achieved remarkable results, opened up a new situation, and its supporting role has become more evident.
Looking back at the past year, the cross-border industry has been in turmoil. Some people have returned with great success, some have left sadly, and many are still holding on. A new year, a fresh start! Cross-border e-commerce Shenzhen Henan |
