British retail technology company Ocado on Wednesday launched a new suite of products designed to help large grocery chains compete with Amazon and startups in fast grocery delivery .
As consumer purchases increase, the speed of delivery of goods becomes increasingly important.
It is understood that Ocado is famous for its online supermarket , but the company 's top priority is robots and automated tools, which will be deployed in warehouses to pick , pack and deliver products .
The company will sell its technology to large retailers, including Kroger, Morrisons , Casino and others.
Ocado says the products it is launching are lighter and more energy-efficient than their predecessors, and some can pick items directly from the company's warehouse grid.
At the same time, Ocado also said that its virtual distribution centers will maximize the item capacity of each warehouse while shortening delivery times.
Foreign media reported that retailers are facing competition not only from Amazon, but also from a series of startups that provide grocery delivery services, all of which are striving to deliver products as quickly as possible. Large retailers such as Amazon and Walmart are constantly expanding warehouses and hiring a large number of employees.
Companies such as Getir and Gorillas have recently emerged in Europe and the United States, receiving a lot of funding from venture capitalists. Getir also acquired its British competitor Weezy , and Gorillas acquired Frichti in France .
But the head of Ocado said the industry has become so crowded that he wouldn't be surprised to see consolidation in the sector , and Ocado CEO Tim Steiner doesn't think the companies ' participation poses a meaningful threat to the big retailers.
It is understood that Ocado plans to launch these products to its retail partners by the end of 2023. The company also said that these moves will benefit Ocado The full-year results for 2022 will not have a significant impact. According to the information released on its official website, the company will release its full-year results on February 8, 2022 . Europe and America Retailers delivery |
