Nearly 40,000 domestically produced reclining chairs recalled due to risk of collapse

Nearly 40,000 domestically produced reclining chairs recalled due to risk of collapse

When it comes to going to the beach, in addition to swimsuits and sun hats, beach chairs are also a must-have. Placing a chair under a sun umbrella and enjoying the sea breeze is a great way to feel the sun. Foldable chairs are not only easy to carry, but also very convenient to use.

It has low cost and moderate demand, and many sellers are selling it on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon. However, it also hides many potential risks. Recently, a model of beach lounge chair was recalled.

The recalled beach chairs are made of a white metal frame covered with plastic woven fabric, and are available in red and blue. In addition to the brand barcode and other labels, there is also a warning sign on the chair with various safety precautions written on it, and a " MADE IN CHINA " mark below.

The beach lounge chair was sold from January 2019 to September 2021, both online and offline. The online sales price was approximately US$25. The recall involves approximately 38,300 units.

The reason for the recall is that the lounge chair may collapse unexpectedly, and if the fingers are caught by the metal folding head during use, it is easy to cause injury. Beach lounge chairs are not only used on the beach, but also suitable for camping trips. If the surface is relatively hard, it may collapse accidentally or cause consumers to fall and other dangers. No accident reports have been received so far.

According to the recommendations of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact online and offline stores for a full refund.

This is not the first time that a recliner has been recalled due to the risk of falling. Last year, about 30,000 recliners were recalled for this reason, and 18 reports of breakage and collapse were received, causing two injuries.

After searching on the Amazon platform, I found that many recliner review sections have more or less quality issues, such as screws that are easy to loosen, unstable fixes that are easy to shake, folding failure, fabrics that are not strong enough, etc. Relevant sellers should also check themselves to avoid unnecessary losses.

Regardless of the category, sellers must strictly control product quality, especially in the children's category.
