Amazon has a new policy: the buyer's return shipping fee will be borne by the seller!

The editor learned from the Amazon official seller forum that Amazon has recently implemented a new policy: the shipping costs of goods that are automatically refunded by buyers will be borne by the sellers.

A user nicknamed "Parkview-Alhambra" said that merchants are frustrated that Amazon automatically refunds buyers because it is not the seller's fault. He believes that Amazon has been favoring buyers in refunds, suggesting that buyers use many reasons such as "no longer needed" and "inaccurate website description" to reduce liability and shipping expenses.

"Parkview-Alhambra" said that the price of the goods they sell is $2, the shipping fee is $3.50 for first-class shipping, and the return shipping fee is $3.66. If a buyer returns the goods, they will lose $7.16 just in shipping the goods to the buyer and returning the goods. And the Amazon platform stipulates that sellers cannot charge restocking fees, shipping fees or any type of fees.

Another user, "Mike64220", said that this is a new policy launched by Amazon and has caused extensive discussion in the official forum. Most merchants, including him, believe that the reason for launching this policy is to target some sellers who charge high outbound shipping fees or restocking fees for all returns.

"Mike64220" also said that Amazon does not care whether merchants lose money, they just want to please customers. He suggested that all merchants modify the pricing of their products to include shipping costs and return fees in the product price.

However, "Parkview-Alhambra" opposed this practice. He believed that if the product was priced too high, it would lose the price that matched the gold shopping cart, resulting in a sharp drop in listing views and causing the product to be unsalable.

"Parkview-Alhambra" emphasized that the reason why Amazon charges high outbound shipping fees or restocking fees is still unknown, but if the product is allowed to charge restocking fees, Amazon only refunds 50% to the buyer. This policy actually exacerbates the buyer's losses.

Amazon continues to introduce new policies in an attempt to give buyers a better shopping experience. Serving consumers is understandable for Amazon as a commercial company, but it is not advisable for sellers to pay for the rights and interests given up. The editor would like to remind you that although Amazon's policies are more inclined towards consumers and have an impact on sellers, sellers should also abide by e-commerce sales rules and should not violate platform rules for the sake of profit.
