Before August 2020 , only legal entities or individual entrepreneurs could open stores on the AliExpress platform . Currently, the number of individual sellers in the Russian market , especially on AliExpress, is growing much faster than the number of individual entrepreneurs and legal entities .

Since the beginning of the year, the total number of Russian sellers on AliExpress has doubled, while the number of individual sellers has increased sixfold. Dmitry Selikhov, head of development of the local market AliExpress in Russia , said that the number of individual sellers on the AliExpress platform is expected to grow further.

Among the stores opened by these individual sellers , the number of stores selling home and garden supplies accounts for the largest proportion, accounting for about 26% of the total number of individual sellers , followed by toys and collectibles, automotive supplies, jewelry and sporting goods, accounting for about 7% of the total number of individual sellers .

In addition, the largest number of individual sellers registered on AliExpress is still in Moscow and St. Petersburg, followed by the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Bashkortostan, and the Sverdlovsk region. It is worth mentioning that the number of self-employed sellers from the Krasnodar Territory has the fastest growth, increasing by 91% in six months.

It is reported that there are more than 65,000 products in Russian individual sellers' stores on AliExpress . Among them , sporting goods are the largest, with more than 28,000 products . The sellers of these sporting goods are mainly from Sverdlovsk, Tula and Ryazan in Russia .

Home and garden goods are the category with the highest sales among self-employed merchants. This category has been the leader in turnover for several months. It is predicted that categories such as automotive, beauty and health, toys, tools or luggage will also see rapid development in the future .
