Omicron is once again creating a craze for N95 masks, with sales increasing by $40 million

Although the popularity of vaccines has allowed many countries to gradually relax their prevention and control policies, as the number of cases of the Omicron variant has surged worldwide, people's concerns about being infected are also increasing. Therefore, the demand for N95 masks has also rebounded recently .

3M, the largest N95 mask manufacturer in the United States , said that mask sales in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by $40 million compared with the figures predicted before the emergence of Omicron. In addition to masks, sales of respirators and air filters have also shown an upward trend in recent times.

In the search terms ranking of Amazon US, we can see that searches related to N95 masks are ranked at the top, which also proves that people's attention to masks has been increasing recently.

The company's executives said that in addition to people's awareness of the improved protection provided by using N95 masks, the government's program to distribute 400 million American-made N95 masks for free also boosted the company's product sales.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in just-updated guidelines that to prevent the spread of the more transmissible Omicron variant, people should consider wearing N95 masks and other more protective face coverings.

3M's mask sales peaked in the first quarter of 2021. The company said sales of N95 and other masks were $1.5 billion in 2021 and $1.4 billion in 2020. Before the pandemic, sales in 2019 were just $600 million.

In addition to masks, sales of items such as alcohol and interest-free disinfectants are also maintaining a steady upward trend. According to a survey of 1,000 adults by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , 83% of respondents said that they would frequently use cleaning products such as hand sanitizer, liquid or spray disinfectants in the next 6 months.

Previously, there were also shortages of goods in American shopping malls. At the end of 2021, 5.5% of household disinfectants were out of stock. Under the influence of Omicron in 2022, the epidemic situation in the United States is still not optimistic. Therefore, cleaning products such as disinfectants are still hot-selling commodities.

In addition, many consumers will also buy some convenient and multifunctional daily epidemic prevention items, such as isolation door handle key pens, mask decompression sleeves, mask lanyards, etc. Some sellers will launch "epidemic prevention product combination packages", including anti-foam masks, protective clothing, alcohol sprays and other epidemic prevention items, allowing consumers to freely combine and purchase, and there are certain discounts.

As the global epidemic situation has not yet stabilized, epidemic prevention supplies are still a necessity for consumers. Sellers can pay more attention to the epidemic situation, seize various good sales opportunities, and create the possibility of explosive sales.
