Shopping on third-party platforms has become a habit, with 63% of French consumers believing it is the most convenient

E-commerce has grown rapidly in France in recent years, and especially under the catalysis of the epidemic, it has become increasingly popular among French consumers.

Compared with traditional e-commerce, third-party sellers on online sales platforms such as Amazon, Cdiscount, and FNAC-Darty have grown more significantly, twice as much as traditional e-commerce.

According to a survey by software publisher Mirakl , French consumers' use of online sales platforms is no longer a fad, but has become ingrained in their consumption habits.

The survey shows that 35% of French consumers make online purchases through third-party sales platforms. And due to the epidemic, the number of users has increased significantly in the past year. Among 10 Internet users, 9 people intend to maintain the habit of shopping on third-party platforms. 35% of respondents said that in 2019 they "only" or "frequently" shopped online on third-party platforms, and this proportion rose to 43% in 2020.

As for the main reason why third-party sales platforms are popular, 63% of French people believe that it is the most convenient way to shop online, and 64% of people are more willing to use e-commerce websites with third-party sellers.

On the other hand, attractive prices, efficient delivery speed and more general product variety are all reasons that attract French consumers to shop at third-party sellers. 57% of respondents said that if the delivery speed is fast, they are more likely to buy the same product from a third-party seller, so fast delivery services like Amazon Prime make them feel very satisfied.

However, there are still certain risks when shopping on third-party platforms, so the French will remain "cautious" before buying . 61% of people will read the reviews of the store or the product before deciding whether to buy here. In addition, 57% of French consumers said they are willing to spend time researching high-quality products.

It can be seen that French consumers pay attention to the diversity of markets and platforms and the quality of services. They rely on online shopping, but they also know how to prevent online shopping risks. Therefore, third-party sellers have great development opportunities in France, but they should also pay attention to improving the quality of products and services, and try to maintain good reviews of products and stores. This will increase consumer favorability and repurchase rates.
