PayPal accounts for 93% of online payments in Italy

The online payment method PayPal is widely known in Europe, but the use of PayPal in online stores varies by country and region. In Italy, 93% of online stores offer PayPal as a payment method , but on the contrary , only 1% of online stores in Serbia offer PayPal as a payment method .

PayPal , a US-based payment method, has become a popular payment method in Europe. For example, just last year it became the most popular payment method in Germany and the UK. According to Statista 's global consumer survey, PayPal's usage rate among online payment service users in the UK, France and Germany has reached more than 90%.

When comparing PayPal to other payment methods, it is extremely popular. Only 12 of the 43 countries surveyed by ecommerceDB had single-digit usage of the payment method. In contrast , Amazon Pay only reached double-digit usage in two of the countries and regions surveyed .

Recent research from ecommerceDB analyzed the supplier side to find out where online stores offer PayPal as a payment method. The study took into account the top 100 online stores in 43 different countries. Italian online stores are leading the way in using PayPal, with at least 93% of them .

PayPal is still widely used in Germany, where 88% of online stores offer this payment method. This is followed by Spain and Austria, where about 86% of online stores offer PayPal. The country with the lowest percentage of online stores offering PayPal is Serbia, where only 1% of the top 100 online stores offer PayPal payments .

The study also looked at countries outside of Europe. Australia also had a high share , with 92% of stores using PayPal. According to ecommerceDB 's survey summary , most Western European countries and the United States ranked relatively high, while Asian and Eastern European countries tended to rank lower.

Convenient payment methods are one of the important factors in e-commerce consumption, and PayPal , as a popular payment method in Europe and the United States, has attracted cooperation from many platforms. Some time ago, OnBuy established a long-term partnership with PayPal as an important layout for opening up more markets.
