In recent years, the functions of smartphones have been continuously upgraded, and there have been many innovative breakthroughs in appearance. Among them, foldable smartphones have attracted the attention of many consumers. The sentiment of foldable phones and the high technology of smartphones have made foldable phones continue to be popular in the mobile phone market in the past two years.
In the Indian market, the sales of foldable phones are even more surprising. It is expected that in 2021, the sales of foldable phones in India will increase by 638%! It is predicted that this gratifying growth will continue in 2022, with sales reaching a record 300,000 units and revenue growth of 60%.
Techarc Faisal Kawoosa, founder and chief analyst at Insights, said in a statement that consumers buy luxury mobile phones costing more than 50,000 rupees not only for practicality but also for showing off. Moreover, foldable smartphones strike a balance between practicality and style in the luxury market, making them more popular with consumers.
It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip launched by South Korean technology giant Samsung in 2021 have both been successful in the market. Compared with the two, the foldable form factor is better-selling than the clamshell form factor.
In addition, OPPO also launched the Find N series of foldable smartphones. Tasleem Arif, vice president and head of R&D at Oppo India , said that with the launch of foldable smartphones, this technology has entered an era of innovation. In the early days, the focus of such mobile phones was on the display panel, but now the technology of various manufacturers has matured, and in the next stage, manufacturers should innovate the display style of foldable smartphones.
It is worth noting that according to a study conducted by CMR in collaboration with Dolby, audio quality is also one of the factors that influence Indian consumers to buy smartphones, with 69% of respondents believing that sound quality is a must-have feature for high-end smartphones.
As the world's second largest smartphone market, India has 346 million smartphone users and a penetration rate of 25.3%. Data shows that India may be the only country in the world where smartphones will grow. According to Counterpoint Research's quarterly outlook for the Indian mobile phone market, smartphone shipments in India are expected to reach a record high of 173 million units in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
In India, the Android platform is dominant, with nearly 96% of the market share. Among them, Xiaomi and Samsung are the most popular among local consumers, with more than 50% of the market share. Smartphone Folding Phone India |
