Attention! Some sellers’ custom URLs are no longer available

Recently, Amazon announced that on December 31, 2021, the custom URLs of handmade sellers (https://www.amazon.com/handmade/brand name or store name) will no longer be used, and will be replaced by alphanumeric URLs with ASIN.

Amazon reminds that if you have your own URL displayed on business cards, advertisements, or social media , you need to update it in time. Sellers can get the new URL in the Product Details on the Maker Profile page.

In fact, Amazon wanted to change this setting earlier, and even made it clear that the effective date was October 15. However, this was complained by sellers, who said that it was the peak holiday sales season and the sudden change would disrupt sales plans. For this reason, Amazon postponed the time to December 31.

At present, sellers who have not yet updated need to hurry up, so as not to disrupt their sales process.

However, the new URL will indeed weaken the brand effect of sellers. But in fact, sellers can obtain a unique URL (https://www.amazon.com/Brand Name) through brand registration, and Amazon said that handmade sellers can get brand registration opportunities for free. Needless to say, the benefits of becoming a brand seller, such as having a unique store page.

Most importantly, the manual seller program does not require trademark certification. However, to be on the safe side, sellers should register trademarks if possible, after all, patent and trademark disputes have never stopped.

Recently, in addition to this change, Amazon has also provided handmade product sellers with a dynamic custom template bulk listing tool, where sellers can easily apply customization to multiple ASINs through self-generated excel templates.

Benefits of the bulk listing tool include: reducing listing and catalog management time, creating or editing SKUs/ASINs across all customization types (text, images, and options) and products, exporting customization data and applying it to products with similar fonts, colors, and components, and editing and updating existing listings and adding new customized products.

In November, there was a wave of people in the seller circle chasing after handmade sellers, saying that this is a blue ocean category with no internal competition. Whether it is a blue ocean or not, I dare not make a conclusion rashly.

But what can be said is that the Amazon Handmade project is now free and sellers can apply for it on their own. Creating a store and posting products are free, and there are no other transaction fees or processing fees, but 15% of the amount will be deducted as a commission. Interested sellers can learn more about it.
