IDC research reports that tablet sales in the second quarter of 2021 were 801,000 units , up 68% from the second quarter of 2020. Sales in the third quarter were approximately 884,000 units , up 18.2% year-on-year .

According to the analyst firm, remote learning and working have objectively boosted tablet sales , which can be seen in the retail and enterprise markets as well as the public sector .

“The government continues to implement projects aimed at digital education, just as companies continue to modernize and use more devices in their digital transformation,” said Daniel Voltarelli, ICT market analyst at IDC Brazil.

In the three months of April, May and June , businesses purchased 194,000 tablets in Brazil , a year-on-year increase of 398.4%, while end consumers purchased about 607,000 tablets from retailers, an increase of 38.6%.

The most popular type of tablet purchased by Brazilians in the second quarter of 2021 was a 7-inch tablet , with an average price of 884 reais , or about 995.55 yuan .

Total tablet revenue in the second quarter reached 708.5 million reais , or approximately US$125 million , an increase of 75.7% over the same period in 2020 .

In the third quarter, retail sales in Brazil exceeded 660,000 units, and Brazilian companies and government agencies acquired approximately 218,000 tablets, an increase of 230.1%.

IDC's forecast for the tablet market in the fourth quarter of 2021 shows a slight decline compared to the same period in 2020.
