Product selection reference: UK fashion industry consumption trends released

On the just-passed British Boxing Day, an estimated 16 million British people participated in related holiday sales activities, and the British economic income on Boxing Day was also estimated to increase by 2.1 billion pounds.

 

Among them, Generation Z and Millennials are the largest groups to purchase through discounts. Nearly 67% of consumers said they shopped on Boxing Day, with jeans ( 45%), jackets (36%) and sneakers (36%) being the items they most wanted to buy .

 

With the arrival of the biggest discount festival of the year, foreign media ASOS released its annual trend report, which mentioned the best-selling products in the UK market in 2021 and the must-have fashion items in 2022.

 

As Brits update their wardrobes , 90s retro will be back again , with baggy jeans, overalls and bright , bold colours leading the market .

 

A quarter ( 24%) of consumers aged 18-35 said they will choose oversized and loose fits in 2022 , and one in five ( 20%) said they will choose large fits and bold colors .

 

As a continuation of 2021, oversized styles accounted for 60% of men's top sales, while women 's flared trousers sales increased by 135%, with nearly 450,000 pairs sold last year . The 90s revival can also be seen on ASOS Marketplace , with consumer searches for "halter top" increasing by 37 %.

 

In this regard, Vanessa Spence, commercial design and visual director of ASOS, said that the trends of the 90s are still very popular among people in their 20s . The trends of the 00s will also be revived next year, and low-rise jeans, double denim and mini skirts will appear in many places .

 

In addition to the above, the following trends are also expected to continue in 2022:

 

Green: Bold green has been a popular color for a while now , but pink is expected to be a popular color in 2022 as well .

 

The Lipstick Effect: Cult-loved shades Mac Velvet Teddy and Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk drove lipstick sales in 2021 , and ASOS beauty experts predict lip gloss will be a bestseller in 2022 .

 

Wedding season is coming again : After a series of blockades and wedding cancellations, the wedding industry is booming in 2021, with customers buying more than 1.5 million bridal and bridesmaid dresses, of which long-sleeved iris wedding dresses have become the most popular choice for brides. At the same time, grooms, groomsmen and male groups all need to dress appropriately, with more than 100,000 complete suits ordered and sold. Against this background, the demand for formal shoes in the market has also increased by 80%.

 

Getting out: In the second half of 2021, an average of one pair of high heels was sold every 13 seconds as Brits began to enjoy social activities again after the end of the epidemic lockdown.
