Monthly sales of one million! eBay sellers switch to Amazon and hit a bottleneck

For cross-border sellers, any slight change in platform policy will have a chain effect on them. Amazon’s platform policy changes that led to the closure of a large number of sellers’ stores is a good example, and eBay is no exception. Under the influence of factors such as fierce industry competition and constant platform problems, some eBay sellers have begun to turn their attention to other e-commerce platforms, but the road to transformation does not seem to be so smooth...

An eBay seller switched to Amazon and sold millions of units a month, but was stuck in a bottleneck...

Recently, a seller revealed that the company had lost most of its accounts due to eBay policies. Considering the limited size of the eBay platform, confusing policies and the company's future development, the seller resolutely gave up the team he had led and began to switch from the eBay platform to the Amazon platform.

"I have been in our company for three years. I started as a fresh graduate working on eBay. After one and a half years, I was successfully promoted to become the department head of a team of 5-7 people. Now I have switched to Amazon and taught myself. I lead a team of 4-5 people and created a monthly sales volume of 1 million yuan," said the seller.

When on the eBay platform, the seller led his small team to create a lot of impressive data during the epidemic. The highest monthly net gross profit reached 1 million yuan, and the monthly net gross profit during the peak season last year was 400,000 to 500,000 yuan.

After switching to the Amazon platform, the seller has made considerable achievements through trial and error, and has achieved monthly sales of 1 million yuan. However, the seller's lack of knowledge and skills in Amazon operations has become his shortcoming.

Since he had only learned the basics of Amazon operations, the seller said that he could only work overtime , browse forums, practice constantly, and ask experienced Amazon bosses for advice to make up for his shortcomings. However, due to the lack of systematic training, he always felt that he was lacking something and did not have enough confidence in operating Amazon.

After working on Amazon for a year, the seller formed a small team of five people, but was still worried about FBA stocking.

"Currently, 70% of the performance during the peak season comes from self-delivery, and sales are 2/3 lower than last year . In addition, the company's overall performance has declined this year, and 1/3 of the employees have left. The company no longer unconditionally supports large investments as before, and all aspects are also saving expenditure costs ," said the seller.

The decline in performance, the company's investment cuts, and the marriages of his classmates all became the reasons for the seller's confusion. In his opinion, he lacked the courage to change companies, and was worried that he would not learn anything and his development might be limited. He already had 2 years of experience in leading a team, and would not consider a sales position, but he still needed to learn a lot about management positions.

Many colleagues were impressed by the seller's achievements, and some suggested that he should start his own business. However, the seller's worries were not without basis. After all, only a few people succeeded in going it alone, and most of them had to go back to work. For cross-border people, it is very important to choose the right boss, because the boss's attitude towards you determines the degree of your success in your career.

Judging from the sellers who have suffered losses to varying degrees due to eBay platform policies , their timely opening up of new paths and switching to platforms such as Amazon is still feasible. Some industry insiders said that their performance decline is likely to be affected by the overall environment of cross-border e-commerce, but for eBay sellers, setbacks have not stopped...

eBay "quietly" discloses seller sales data

The sales data of e-commerce stores, whether sales or sales volume, are the privacy of the sellers. What should be done if the sales data of the store is exposed without the seller's knowledge? Recently, many eBay sellers said that their store sales data was made public without receiving any notification.

Some sellers reported that after opening their store homepage as a buyer, it clearly showed "11k sold" below the number of followers and positive feedback rate , but they had not received any notification from eBay before that.

It is understood that eBay's behavior has caused dissatisfaction among many sellers. The seller said that he discovered this situation by chance. So when did this "operation" of the eBay platform start and how long has it lasted? Some sellers also believe that the sales data of the store is their own privacy and is not of great value to buyers. eBay needs to explain why it does this.

Although this situation has occurred in the vast majority of eBay stores, a small number of stores have "escaped the crisis", such as a large seller of eBay-certified refurbished products, which does not display sales data on the store homepage.

Regardless of the motivation, eBay's rules for disclosing sales data are also confusing. Take Google's eBay store as an example. At first, the homepage of the Google store showed "179,000 items sold." But a few days later, the homepage showed "179,000 items sold." This series of operations is indeed confusing.

In addition, eBay does not specify the time period of the sales data. Does it show the store’s total sales last month, the past year, or data from some other time period?

A seller reported that his store homepage showed that his store had sold 13K . If calculated in US dollars, this number is much higher than his sales last month, but lower than his sales in the past year. If calculated by sales volume, his product sales since the store opened have not reached this number.

In short, according to sellers’ feedback, there is no clear fixed pattern in terms of the stores that disclose sales data, or the time periods and types of sales data. Sellers are discussing this, wondering what eBay is up to. One seller said that if eBay really wants to add a function to display store sales data, can it add a switch in the background to let sellers decide whether to display sales data?

eBay did not issue an announcement or make any further explanation for this situation . We currently do not know the cause of this incident, and the final solution requires further observation.

A large number of new sellers entered the market, foreign trade factories and domestic e-commerce companies rushed to join the market, and the cross-border e-commerce pie was quickly divided up, and industry competition intensified. Under this situation, no matter which platform is operated or which categories are sold, the competition is very fierce, and "involution" has gradually become the most headache for sellers.

At the same time, some sellers, encouraged by their friends and family, have embarked on the road of going it alone. After accumulating several years of operating experience, they are full of confidence and want to give it a try, but the reality is mostly unsatisfactory. They use their own personal experience to sound the alarm. Sellers who want to go it alone must not only have sufficient funds, but also have certain operating skills. If they have no foundation or insufficient foundation, they must be cautious!
