As they keep a close eye on the Black Friday situation, port congestion, shipping delays and tight space are still weighing on sellers' minds. Coupled with the "last straw" of detention fees charged by the West Coast of the United States , many US routes have announced large-scale suspension of flights under multiple pressures.
As of press time, a number of shipping companies have announced plans to suspend operations, including Mediterranean Shipping Company, CMA CGM, ZIM, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine and other shipping companies. The departure ports of these routes are mostly Shanghai, Yantian, Qingdao and other places in China, and the destination ports are mostly the United States, France, Canada and other places.
In addition, many shipping companies in Yantian are also planning to suspend operations, with the main destination ports being Oakland, Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Affected by the quarantine of crew members on coastal feeder ships between South China and Hong Kong, feeder operators between the two places announced that they would suspend services from February 1 to 5, 2022, which means that operations will be suspended for at least 6 weeks. ONE will stop accepting cargo that passes through major ports in South China and then reaches its final destination via domestic feeder lines, while direct ocean-going ships will not be affected.
Under the influence of various factors, some people in the industry have predicted that the shipping price will rise in December. In fact, it is not only the situation of shipping that is severe, but also the situation of air transportation is not optimistic.
"The price of air freight has risen again recently, and has risen to 80+, and freight forwarders are also raising air freight prices," said a seller. Some freight forwarders have also issued delay notices, indicating that due to the cancellation of flights by airlines and the delivery of epidemic prevention materials, as well as the shortage of space, the delivery time of goods may be delayed.
Many sellers said that they would rather run out of stock than have empty shipments, because there is no profit at all, and even regular sea freight takes more than 20 days. Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming one after another, many sellers said that the decline in sales has not recovered, and the conversion rate is much lower than before.
For many sellers, logistics is the most problematic link, which also restricts the sellers' stocking cycle, and can be said to have a great impact. Under such circumstances, sellers who have shipping needs in the near future can prepare in advance and choose a shipping method that suits them according to their own needs, which can reduce logistics costs while also enabling early shipment and listing.
