The epidemic has created new demands, and this new type of air conditioner is more popular among Indian consumers

As the new coronavirus spreads in India, Indian people have begun to pay attention to hygiene and health, and the change in national habits has given rise to new consumer demands. Multifunctional air conditioners that can purify the air and kill bacteria and viruses have become a new trend. New air conditioners using nanoe X technology ( a black technology that can effectively remove bacteria and odors ) are popular among Indian consumers.

Leading air-conditioner manufacturers claim that new air-conditioners have become a new lifestyle preference in the post-epidemic era . Indian consumers are very sensitive to advertising terms such as "health" and "hygiene" . Air-conditioners marked with functions such as "air purification", "sterilization" and "disinfection" are more likely to be noticed by consumers, and the sales of new air-conditioners are increasing year by year.

In addition, the deterioration of air quality in Indian cities is also an important reason for the popularity of new air conditioners. The rapid development of industrialization and urbanization has caused serious pollution to India's air quality. For example, the air quality index of Delhi in India has remained at around 250 all year round , which is a heavily polluted area.

Poor air quality seriously endangers people's health. Therefore, more and more consumers tend to choose air conditioners with functions such as air purification.

Gaurav Sah, Business Head, Air Conditioning Division, Panasonic India, said, “The new range of ACs under the HU series are equipped with nanoe X technology. Since the outbreak of the pandemic , there has been a surge in demand on online platforms . Our products have evolved from conventional products to multi-tasking products . In the first year of adoption, the average sales of ACs were between 7%-10%. We are hoping to see sales of around 10%-15% for ACs equipped with nanoe-G.”

This year, even as consumers began frequenting retail stores, air conditioner sales on e-commerce platforms have surged. "So far, we have sold 1,600 Pure Air Purifiers , which is a good start, " said a spokesperson for Walters (Indian air conditioner brand) .

At present, the temperature in some cities in India has reached 30℃ and above. The Indian summer is coming, and air-conditioning products will usher in a hot season. The price range of air conditioners on the Flipkart platform is 24,000 rupees to 39,000 rupees. The average price of new multi-functional air conditioners remains at 35,000 rupees and above. Sellers can set prices at their discretion.
