The freight forwarder drank pesticide and committed suicide because his peers withheld the order? The party involved responded

The cross-border e-commerce industry has been under high pressure this year. Any slight disturbance in logistics, cross-border e-commerce sales trends, platform policy changes, etc. will touch people's sensitive nerves.

Recently, a piece of news about a "freight forwarder drinking pesticides to commit suicide" suddenly spread in the industry. The sensitive words "pesticides" and "suicide" added fuel to the news, and it immediately ignited various logistics communication groups. For a time, there was a lot of discussion. Some people thought the news was true, some thought it was false, and some thought it was a deliberate rumor spread by the logistics company.

In order to understand the details, Yien.com contacted the three parties involved.

"Your company's actions caused our employees to commit suicide by drinking pesticides. Please take responsibility."

On Thursday night, a screenshot of an email with the subject line “Your company’s actions caused our employee to commit suicide by drinking pesticides. Please be responsible” and a screenshot of the Moments of a person with the WeChat nickname “乘风破浪” were forwarded in many logistics groups.

The email reads: Dear colleagues in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, our company booked cargo through Shenzhen Ruiyuanhong, and then Ruiyuanhong booked cargo to Guangzhou U-Best International Logistics Co., Ltd. After paying the freight, the cargo arrived at the port but still could not be discharged. We asked many people to discharge the cargo. The shipping company said that Guangzhou U-Best International Logistics Co., Ltd. did not pay the shipping fee, so the order was withheld. Our salesperson drank pesticide and committed suicide after losing a big customer. He is now in the hospital.

The friend circle wrote: I have paid all the freight on Monday, but the Shenzhen company Ruiyuanhong still withheld the order. Now I drink paraquat to commit suicide. The goods have arrived at the port, but the company Ruiyuanhong will not release the order, and JC (the editor has abbreviated it here) will not deal with it either. They can only exchange their intentions for justice.

At the same time, in one of the communication groups, a person nicknamed "A川澜SAMML" also forwarded the above-mentioned circle of friends screenshot to the group, and said that Shenzhen Ruiyuanhong did not respond after receiving the money, which led to the suicide of their company's business, and said that he would upload the hospital certificate later.

It is not difficult to find from these contents that there are three parties involved in this incident: Chuanlan, Shenzhen Ruiyuanhong, and Guangzhou Ube International Logistics Co., Ltd.

Therefore, Yien.com contacted the above three parties.

When contacting the person in charge of Chuanlan, Yien.com first added his WeChat, but was not accepted. Then it contacted by phone. During the call, the editor first introduced himself and expressed his desire to verify whether the news was true, but the person in charge did not respond, but asked: "Do we have a business relationship with you?" After the editor replied that there was no business relationship, the other party said: "That's it", and then hung up the phone.

At the same time, Yien.com also contacted the other two parties involved. The following are their responses.

Ruiyuanhong: Those who challenge the company's bottom line and the law will be held accountable

When contacting the person in charge of Shenzhen Ruiyuanhong, the other party said that he had posted a statement document on WeChat Moments.

The document dated November 11 said: With the current high shipping costs, it has become more difficult to release orders. I believe that friends in the same industry usually release orders within 3 to 5 days.

The situation is: the other company paid on the evening of November 8, and our colleagues said that the order would be released in 3 to 5 days. The leader of the other company also found the person in charge of our company, and the person in charge also explained to the other company, but the other party still did not believe it.

1. The goods arrived at the port on November 12, and there is a telex release bill of lading as evidence. The goods have been discharged today.

2. This customer paid our company at 19:43 on the evening of November 8th.

Our company will ignore the other company's childish behavior. For any behavior that challenges the company's bottom line, principles and laws, our company will pursue legal responsibility.

To summarize the document: 1. According to the current logistics situation, Ruiyuanhong promised to release the order 3 to 4 working days after Chuanlan paid. Chuanlan paid on November 8, which means the order release time is November 11-15 (including weekends in between); 2. Chuanlan said in the email released on November 11 that the goods had arrived at the port, but the actual goods did not arrive until November 12.

"They paid the money on the evening of November 8, and on November 9, we started to release the order. Then on the 10th, they called me and asked me to release the order. I explained to them several times that the order would be released within three to five working days. Then on the morning of the 11th, they spread rumors that their employees had committed suicide by drinking pesticides, " said the person in charge of Ruiyuanhong.

He said: "We didn't hold the order, we just said that the order release was a bit slow, and we explained it to them. If there is an economic dispute between companies, legal procedures can be taken."

He added: "We find this freight forwarding company's behavior incredible and we don't know how to comment on it. If they want to make trouble, we can't stop them, but we must express our company's views."

Ubest: We were completely caught in the crossfire

"We are the ones who are caught in the crossfire!" he said when Yien.com contacted the person in charge of Ube.

At the same time, Ubest also issued a lawyer's statement "to relevant parties". Part of the statement is as follows:

In view that the emails and/or WeChat messages sent or published by Chuanlan Company’s personnel have been circulated within a certain range in the freight forwarding, logistics and shipping industries, and have caused a certain degree of interference in U-Bay’s business activities and damage to its reputation, our law firm, on behalf of U-Bay, makes the following statement to set the record straight:

For promissory note transportation, Ubei Company has no contractual relationship with Chuanlan Company and Ruiyuanhong Company, and has not accepted the entrustment of Chuanlan Company and Ruiyuanhong Company to book cargo; Ubei Company accepted the entrustment of Haichen Shitong Company to handle the freight forwarding business for promissory note transportation, and has fulfilled the booking and shipment arrangements; for the arrangement of cargo release, Ubei Company should act in accordance with the instructions of Haichen Shitong Company.

According to Haichen Shitong, according to the agreement between the company and Ruiyuanhong, Haichen Shitong will instruct Ubei to arrange the release of the goods only after receiving the transportation-related fees paid by Ruiyuanhong. Haichen Shitong said that it received the fees paid by Ruiyuanhong after work yesterday ( November 11, 2021), and then confirmed with Ubei that it had arranged the release of the goods; Ubei has accordingly arranged the release of the goods.

Ubei Company was not aware of the relationship and dispute (if any) between Chuanlan Company and Ruiyuanhong Company, and such relationship and dispute (if any) had nothing to do with Ubei Company; Ubei Company also did not fail to pay the freight to Wanhai Company, resulting in the non-release of goods under the promissory note.

Therefore, in the process of handling the freight forwarding affairs of the promissory note transportation, U-Bai has always acted in accordance with the contract and the law. The above emails and WeChat contents posted by Chuanlan Company personnel were not caused by U-Bai Company's behavior; U-Bai Company is not responsible for the losses and damages (if any) caused by Chuanlan Company or other personnel due to other parties. The description of U-Bai Company's breach of contract or fault in the above emails is inconsistent with the facts.

The person in charge of Youbei also pointed out in his WeChat Moments that the suicide was purely fabricated and that it was Chuanlan’s operator who fabricated the news of the business suicide in order to force the release of orders.

"Our lawyers are preparing to sue them," the official said.
